Thank you.  That was quite long, but very interesting  :)

Thanks Erica, this podcast is extraordinary.  I'm a data analyst so talking about the flawed study at the heart of it, and the statistical interpretation is fascinating.  The level of 'wrongness' about this study that made thousands of women give up on HRT is shocking.  Thanks again.

Thanks, this was eye-opening and I would say the podcast and book on which it's based, are essential for anyone seriously wanting to understand HRT and all the rubbish we have been and still are being peddled in this country as in many others.

Some revelations for me were:
not only are hormones not conducive to cancer, they might even offer some protection;

there is zero empirical evidence for the received "wisdom" of taking the minimum dose of HRT for the least possible time;

the 'bio or body identical' mantra is so much marketing and that the now maligned/unfashionable equine estrogen shows evidence of being more effective than estradiol in brain protection (I had a knee jerk reaction against this but probably because I too am brainwashed). CEE contains about 9 different types of estrogen unlike the estradiol only transdermal stuff many of us take.

bone density testing is a very flawed, almost useless means of measuring the likelihood of developing osteoporosis (apparently what counts is the internal elasticity of the bone, composed of collagen et al and this is currently unmeasurable). This was of particular interest to me as I have just been diagnosed with osteopenia.

I will be following up with a proper read of the book and a chase-up of some of its references, many thanks

Yes very interesting and potentially concerning re equine hrt being better for brain function. Be interesting to see what other Meno specialists think about this. I did notice the book was published three and a half years ago so it may be there are more up to date studies out there.
