Scan, norethisterone, mirena?
« on: February 05, 2022, 12:57:30 PM »

Very late peri, 4 pumps gel, 200mg x12 days utro on a 6 week cycle. I'm getting a bit concerned that when my body doesn't contribute the utro rarely induces a bleed. It's over 6 months since I had my own period and I haven't bled since on the hrt cycle. My gp is clueless so what should I ask for? Scan, course of norethisterone, mirena or something else?
It seems a bit unlikely that on 4 pumps gel there isn't a build up though I'll be happy to be told I'm worrying unnecessarily.

It’s likely that your body is moving further into menopause / post menopause and therefore you won’t bleed. x

Do U feel pre-menstrual or is your body jogging along at it's own rate?

Hi,

There could be a number of reasons. Never simple is it!!

You may not be absorbing - things can change, so i would get a test done - may not be definitive , but part of a picture
Get a scan done to see how thick the lining is - if it is thick consider a course of Norethisterone as a one off maybe?
A shorter cycle in the long run may be an option, but not if you don't get on with utro.
If your womb is thin or within normal limits and you have no ill effects then scan again in 4 months to see maybe how things are going.
You could ask to go to your nearest menopause clinic .
If your Gp wont book you in for a scan or send you to a clinic , write to the practice manager, as this is negligent.
The mirena is great for some but you wont know til you have it.

Firstly though have a scan and see where you are.
I do hope you get this sorted .

Thanks folks, I'll ask for a scan and go from there. Maybe it'll show my lining is thin and I only prog every 6 months  ;D I can dream...

Probably, waiting lists for everything seem to be long and anyone on the 2 week pathway will have priority (as they should).
