Oestrogel dose doesn’t seem to relieve symptoms
« on: February 07, 2022, 07:50:53 AM »

Morning everyone, I am 65 and had a hysterectomy about 15 years ago. I have been taking oestrogen ever since. First in tablet form, then Estradot patches but following a recent blood test found my oestrogen levels were low and my GP thought that oestrogel might be absorbed better.  She started me on 2 to 3 pumps suggesting I could go up to 4 pumps daily.  I am finding I still get breakthrough symptoms on 4 pumps (worse some days than others). Does anyone use any more than this?
Thank you in advance.   I am new to this forum but the amount of information on here is amazing.

I use 5 pumps at the moment, I had a hysterectomy last summer but ovaries out too. Which symptoms still remain?

I was told up to 6 by a specialist but most GPS won't prescribe more than 4.

Does sound like you need a higher dose judging from those symptoms.

Hia,

Sheila is of course right as ever, most GPS spout the  "4 pumps" mantra. I've just increased to 6 pumps and spoke to my GP asking for an increase in my prescription to reflect my dosage.

He didn't resist much, as I said that the dosage is like a moving target, if your body requires more than someone else's to keep the meno symptoms at bay then an increase is what's needed. Listen to your body, women are not robots we are all different.

Check out this video on dosage if you have time.
