Hi newbie here and struggling !
« on: January 25, 2022, 03:07:38 AM »

Hi all ,
I’m looking for some advice . Please bear with me ……
History from a young age suffered with periods , pms and couldn’t tolerate the pill. Had 4 pregnancies all with hypermisis from moment of finding out pregnant till just after labour . Then I suffer with post natal depression. So I don’t tolerate change in my hormones very well.
Over the years I’ve had mirena coils and been on antidepressants . My mood around 10 days before my period goes extremely low ( suicidal ideations ) and it was only when I came across pmdd a lightbulb moment happened . I consultated a pmdd specialist who I had an initial consultation 2 years ago who recommended I started hrt estrogel 2 pumps with the mirena . This didn’t help and I went to see her nov 21 .at this point my current mirena had been taken out due to expelling itself. She couldn t diagnose me pmdd as didn’t have 2 months of my daily mood on her app to observe so started me on zoladex 3 monthly and asked me to record on this app. I’ve done that for 3 months . 1st nov I had first zoladex and I had period nov but dec I had new mirena fitted and I had a long very light period . Jan no period atall . I went to
See her last night for my 2nd zoladex and she said see how my next 8 weeks are . To up my estragol from 2 pumps to 4 pumps and then I won’t need another zoladex. I’m so confused I thought I’d stay on the zoladex so I suppress my cycle then hopefully go for hysterectomy . She’s saying I’m perimenopausal and what’s the point of going for surgery if it can be managed with her . ( I understand that ) but I’m scared to come off the zoladex and just be on the mirena and estradol as I’ve been on it previously and my moods were horrendous .
It’s so confusing ….. I hope someone can make sense of it all cause I’m struggling and scared x

Hi, I'm sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately I don't have the answers or advice on this one, but i'm sure people on here will.  But I wanted to say hi, and you're not alone x

Morning.  Perimenopuase can begin 8-10 years B4 our last period.

Hysterectomy is major surgery and sometimes won't solve a problem.  If you can balance your hormones without, which can take a few months, then try to stick with it.  What's Zoladex ?  an implant?

Don't up the estragol too quickly or your body won't know if it's flying a bike or riding a kite.  Increase from 2 - 3 a couple of times a week and see how you feel.  Keeping a mood/food/syptom diary mayB of use.

When is your next appt. with her ?

Hi thank you both for replying . The dr asked me to send my daily mood sheet and  call her in 8 weeks . She’s referred me to her nhs clinic but I’m that desperate I’m happy to see her privately . I think I’m scared because the zoladex has helped me with my pmdd symptoms and to come off it and those symptoms to come back terrifies me . X

Stand your ground?   Sometimes we have to impress how ill we feel without ........ what's the rush to stop?  We shouldn't have to justify the reasons and 8 weeks is a long time to wait.  She may not see you any quicker privately if her clinic is full.

Thank you everyone for your comments .  I thought I’d give you a little update . I was due my 3rd zoladex beginning of April and the specialist didn’t agree to it so at present I’m just having the mirena coil. She advised me to stop the estrogel whilst I was on the zoladex and now the zoladex is out my system I’m feeling old symptoms coming back with a vengeance . I’ve asked her god a phone call today cause I’m experiencing terrible brain fog , anxiety , hot flushes so hopefully I can try restart the estragol . I mentioned I had the mirena put in in dec and whilst I was having it done I explained I was always bloated . Dr sent me for some blood tests and a poo stool sample but all came back ok . About 8 weeks ago I started with pains in my pelvic area so she sent me for an ultrasound - they asked if they could do a transvaginal one too which was ok . 2 weeks ago I looked 9 months pregnant , breathless , dragging sensation down my legs so went to the walk in centre. I was admitted and given a ct scan which showed alongside the ultrasound that I have an 8cm dermoid cyst on my left ovary - so now I’m on strong pain killers when needed until I go to see gynaecology . Sods bloody look as I was admitted I was swabbed and I had covid so I was placed on a covid red ward which was just general so I never got to see a gynaecologist in the 4 days I was in. The good news is they don’t think it looks sinister the bad news is there’s ovarian cancer in the family so fingers crossed .

Have you had the appropriate ovarian cancer blood test?  This should have been done initially to give you a guide line.

As for the bloating etc., I would quietly suggest that this is a drop of hormones.  I got like that prior to each period  >:( to the point that I couldn't keep my skirt zip done up after lunch time  >:(  :(

As for Covid, this shouldn't have stopped a Consultant from seeing you, that is disgusting.  We are all masked etc.!  I would see if this particular Gynae is au fait with menopause too, a few are interested in both side by side.  However, many know as much about menopause symptoms as they do about pruning roses. ;-)

Hi I had the ca125 test which came back normal but my aunts did too . She had a very aggressive form and unfortunately passed away within 6 months . Obviously she was older but I’ve told my dr about her ca125 results but they don’t seem to be bothered .
I did put a complaint in whilst in hospital as on the first night a surgeon came to tell me he wanted to rule out ovarian cancer then I had my ct 2 days later . Then the day after I had a dr say take some laxatives and I could go home . Everything they spoke to me about no one addressed until
I spoke up . They said the gynaecology consultant would see me as an out patient as they wouldn’t come on the covid ward . Safe to say I was emotional but wanted to get home x
