I remember you from your other thread. Have you contacted a meno specialist as mentioned on there? It seems harsh you were told to stop and not be able to use it again even when off blood thinners. As you said the blood clots happened due to being immobile in hospital rather than an underlying health condition so patch HRT may well be reinstated once your blood has stabilised. There are other medications to help prevent sweating which may help. One is called Clonidine. Friends have had success with it stopping the awful sweats.

Hi Jennyj!

Sorry to hear you're feeling so low.  You'll find other non-hormonal treatment options and tips to help with hot flushes in the information provided to breast cancer patients.  Taz2 has already mentioned Clonidine.  Here's a list of additional options:

https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/coping/physically/sex-hormone-symptoms/women-coping-with-hormone-symptoms/hot-flushes-and-sweats

Hope you find some relief.

:bighug:  hot flushes can cause shivering as the body cools, it can also feel quite a shock to the body.  Do ask for a referral to a dedicated menopause clinic: don't wait as lists can be quite long for appts..  Or you can send an e-mail to Dr Currie on here, there is a charge for 1 query.  Let us know how you get on.

Jenny j I feel for you.  :'(
I got a big gel pad and kept it by the bed - just pulled it onto my chest or under my head when I needed to, which saved me throwing the duvet on and off ten times a night! They warm up after a while, but after the horrible heat has subsided, just chuck it back out the bed to cool down again. X

I would speak to a meno specialist. I thought as long as the hrt was transdermal not oral there's no increased risk so it's OK to continue. Perhaps Dr Currie who runs this site might be an option, £30 for an email. Seems a shame to suffer if you don't have to.
