Very bad news for Tonga.
Will it affect your holiday plans CLKD, presumably you were/are planning on holidaying there this year?

Nope, we never travel abroad.  My anxiety won't allow it.  It's hard enough visiting friends locally  :'(

CLKD is this just in case there are others going there? It seems a slightly misleading title as I thought it was going to be about our holiday plans for 2022 (none for me I'm afraid!)

Does anyone have plans thus far?

We are still thinking about the trip to Devon  ::) as well as someone is planning a get-together which will mean meeting people not seen for 20 years ......... already my anxiety levels are fluctuating with a degree of discomfort.  Spontaneous.  That's me.  Booking makes issues ..............

The tsunami may affect other parts of that region if there are after shocks.  The eruption lasted 8 whole minutes!

I watched Martin Clunes the other night, how lovely to go to places with warm sunshine and deep blue seas.  Swimming with sharks though   ?   :-\

CLKD - If you never travel abroad why post the news about Tonga in a thread about holidays?

I thought it was going to be about holiday destinations too!

I booked our holiday today. We are going to Corfu in June. 🌞🌞
haven’t had a break of any sort since Sept 2019.

We have a house which we rent out. 12 years with private tenants and when the last ones left in 2020 we advertised it and got such a load of time wasters and weirdos that I just had a feeling we might encounter problems and Covid meant it would be hard to evict them if we needed to.

We decorated top to bottom, had a lovely new kitchen installed, new appliances and new  flooring throughout and I had a lovely time furnishing it etc and last April the Govt said we could go ahead with holiday lets.  The bookings poured in and we were booked right through until the end of November.  We have 8 bookings in for this year and 4 of those are repeats.

If our June holiday goes OK I may book another week somewhere else in September. 👍

We have been to Corfu twice before but that was over 10 years ago.  It is lovely and we loved the blue seas, lemon trees, olive groves.

That sounds my kind of place.  Do you get to swim often?

yes we do and the water is lovely and clear.  Where we stayed you could look across the sea to Albania and I said to my husband that in my younger days I could easily have swum over there, it’s only about 2 miles.
