Injection ?
« on: April 11, 2022, 03:23:10 PM »

Hi all

So I just had a call from my consultant asking how I am. I said I've had a bad day; felt really low; teary, super sore breasts.
He said we can either carry on....or if I want can have the injection every 3 months?,
I asked what this is....he said it stops me ovulating but will give oestrogen to me aswell.
I'm sat here not sure... anyone experienced this injection before? Any benefits?

Xx

Might it be a GnRH injection? You need to ask.

Hi Vicky,

Please get as much info as you can and research it properly.
I’m not a medic, I have not had the GnRH injection but I did have the 3 month contraception injection which made my hair fall out and other bad symptoms. I had to wait for months until the injected med wore off.

This is only my opinion. if somebody takes a 3 month injection and it makes symptoms worse they could need three months to recover and be unable work.
Would your employer pay your full net salary for 3 months if you were too ill to do your job? Your contract should state this, if not the HR department will provide the details of the scheme they use. Please check that you qualify for the scheme. Paying salaries to sick employees is very often referred to as ‘discretionary’ so decided on a case by case basis.
Statutory Sick Pay is £99.35 per week and is paid by your employer for 28 weeks, it’s pathetically low.

Do you have savings to pay standard living costs until you can return to work?

Maybe you have family, friends and partner who will support you financially.

I’m not asking you for personal info, just stuff for you to think about.

Sorry for long post. X

Hi V

Thanks so much for the info. Errr no i think i will pass! Lol. Today, i actually feel a bit brighter, just at work at the mo....not sure if its the Setraline or Gel??

Anyway, my partner advised me last night to continue on the current regime.

I think for curiosity i will do some research into the GnRH injection.....see what folk are saying on the net about it, and to get details from my clinic....just as an alternative (should the side effects not sound that bad) and could help more with hormonal fluctuations??

Hope youre ok? xxx

Vicky. Surely if he thinks contraceptive hormones might suit you better, you'd be better to trial a pill, patch or ring.

You then have a choice to stop!!!

Or did you guys work out its not the contraceotive Injection??? And I'm confused  >:(

Vicki it's great you are feeling brighter! Whether it's the oestrogel or the sertraline or a combo. Maybe your partner is right to say keep going as you are for now.
