Hi Margaret, I was also put on 6months course of anti thrush (vaginal pessaries once a week) but this didn't work. It is been a year since I started with VA and thrush. GP never did a swab, I paid one privately which confirmed it but back then I was non the wiser and thought candida was just one, I was wrong there are dif types. The GP's referral to GUM clinic came 8 months later (covid waiting list horrendous) GUM clinic did another swab to proper see what type of candida is and if it is resistant or not to Fluconazol. I do have one type that is resistant to Fluconazol so treatment is different, GUM clinic sent me a month after the proper swab a different vag cream but this hasn't worked either-I have been with this for a year, so quite naive to think a quick course of 14 days will work!!, so again waiting for another phone appointment end of Oct.....this is never ending story. What I am trying to say is that you need to get a swab to identify the type , otherwise you will be wasting the time like happened to me.
