« on: September 27, 2021, 09:34:21 PM »

Hi just joined and hoping can join in use forum to journey through this wonderful time of life  ;)
I've recently started HRT - oestrogen patches - still having periods - mum had breast cancer at 50 - doc said to be cautious so only taking progesterone for 3 days a month mid cycle..... Anyone else heard of this? Does it make sense?
He did explain but my hormone addled brain immediately forgot!!!

Join the meno brain fog club  ::)  :bang:

It depends on what type of breast disease your Mum was diagnosed with.  It's also about Quality of Life.

MayB put the product names into the search box on the Forum - separately - make notes ;-).  How regular are you periods?

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary useful ;-)

Ha thanks. Yes I do a mood symptom diary and thats what alerted me to chat to gp. Periods are between 3 weeks and 8 weeks apart so starting to flux. So I just take 3 days of Utrogestan 12 days after period.....
Will search for the products and see what I can find.

Never heard of that, sounds far too little to me. Standard dose is 2x100mg x 12 days (days 15-26). Lowest dose is 100mg x 7 days vaginally but if using that little you should have scans to make sure the lining isn't building up. I would read the PIL then ask him again why you're on so much less.

Thanks and have read the threads and product info and agree.
Thing is if I'm still having regular periods is the lining not protected?
Not sure what 3 days of Utrogestan is going to add.
Have a review next month so going to ask and check. Know they were concerned re breast cancer link so maybe that.
