PMS on HRT
« on: September 13, 2021, 10:23:58 PM »

Can anyone please help I have not had a period in two years, I am 45 and menopause specialist said I was post menopausal and has give me 1 pump of Estrogel each day and 100mg every second day of oral Utrogestan to be taken vaginally.
It has now been three months and I feel like I have constant pms I have near daily headache and severe water bloating all over body, very low mood etc
Could anyone shed any light why I would have pms and any remedy?
Thank you x

Morning.  Probably caused by the HRT.  Hopefully someone will be along with info on this combination.   :welcomemm:

Hi,

continuous progesterone can cause those symptoms , but they can subside. Some ladies prefer to take the utro an a cycle even if they are post meno because of this and get a bleed. You could also try to up the estrogen as 1 pump is a low dose. for your age  to see if that makes you feel better.

If you feel that the utro does not suit you there are other options such as the minera coil or provera.  Go to the top of the page and have a look at treatments. Also use the search box to find other threads with similar issues.

Thank you for the reply. I have spoken with my Dr and am now taking Utro on a cycle & have upped my Estrogel.
Fingers crossed it works 🤞🏻 Xx

You should speak to your Dr/specialist about best option for you.
I was offered a coil or a long utro cycle.
I chose the long cycle with utro for one week every 3 months. If this does not work I will try coil next. Xx

Update 😞 please help
I stopped the Utro nearly 2 weeks but still have had no bleed? Is this ok?
My low mood & headache have gone however the fluid retention has persisted & increased with just the Estrogel?
Could anyone shed any light? Could this be utro withdrawal symptoms or to much estrogel?
It’s all so confusing 😩 not sure if I am doing right or wrong 😑
Thank you x
