Each month a different type of period- the joys of it all.
« on: September 09, 2021, 07:18:57 PM »

I have been on 2 pumps of gel and 12 days utrogestan  for nearly 2 years now.
Each month I have no idea what will happen with the withdrawal bleed.
This last one was a joy and very confusing.
The 12 days of utro a painful. Emotional nightmare. ( the month before no side effects at all)The start of my period was so painful I woke in the night and had to take painkillers and had to take them again for the next day. With that kind of cramping I would have expected a good bleed but no it was mostly brown and very light.

God knows what the next one will be like

This is normal in Peri on HRT right?
Why so painful with nothing to show for it?

I'd like to know what to expect each month too!

Now nearly 53, on systemic HRT for a year (usually Evorel 50 + Utrogestan on a sequi regime) and my last few periods have been really different. The last one was - like yours - painful but with not much to show for it!

My periods waxed and waned for several years without HRT.  "the Change", does what it says on the tin.  At least 4 me the dreadful clotty painful bleeds disappeared.  I would go for months, then miss several, then back ............  ::)

Thanks
It freaks me out all this change and not knowing what is normal because it’s all so different.
I am guessing the utrogestan is doing its job as there’s not much to shed.

I hate it though. It makes me feel awful and physically hurts. I had the same issues when I briefly tried the mirena. The pain was intolerable.

I now now that is the pain I experience when taking any progesterone. >:(

None actually.
I never thought to otherwise I’d be taking pain relief for nearly half the month.
Do you have any recs? Wary of taking too much ibuprofen type pills due to stomach irritation  :'(

Go to see a Pharmacist in the week and ask?  If the pain requires easing with tablets, he/she should be able to recommend something and how often to take it.

I had dreadful, heavy++, clotty, painful +++ periods for years.  I bought 'feminax' over the counter, the idea being to take it 2 days prior to a period being due. It was the one pain relieve that actually worked!

I seem to have a pattern of a few months x2 bleeds in the month then one month x1 bleed, very annoying and frustrating. Bleeding generally lighter than they were before. I've started taking a dose of Ibuprofen with my dinner at night (for the week of my period) & rubbing Pernaton on my lower back, got heat packs & electric back/abdomen pad this seems to take the edge of things. Like you violetbat not wanting to be taking painkillers all month so try & keep it to just the one dose ibuprofen. It would be good to know when it will all end, seems to have been going on for forever for me! x
