Vagifem replacement
«
on:

Got my repeat prescription from the chemist today and I've got Estradiol 10 microgram tablets instead of Vagifem. Ingredients are the same including fillers with 2 reusable applicators made by a German manufacturer Huapt Pharma and marketed by Mercury Pharma.
Anyone else had these yet? I'll let you know how i get on with them.

I think we have to take what is offered
. It may be a cheaper version of the same, could you ask the Pharmacist? It's probably out of Patent which means other companies can now make it.
I would give it a go.

Yes I will, the ingredients look the same so should be fine. I read a while ago the patent had ended and others had been given alternatives that didn't suit them, just wondered how many other brands there were now and if some had different fillers.

Let us know? Fillers/packaging can cause irritation as we well know

Well, 10 days now on the new brand and apart from having to wash the applicator (two providered per box) all is ok. Just hope this will be the same brand next time.

I have small bottle brushes to cleanse the applicators (ovestin). Bought from the baby section in Boots ;-)

These applicators are really thin about 6mm, actually the same as the Vagifem ones and just hold the tablet in the top.

I’ve been given the same vagifem replacement. I’ve not had any adverse effects. I actually find it easier just to push it in with my finger. I seem to be getting it in place alright. Saves washing the applicator!

I did think about that, i also use Ovestin and apply that way, its better than some being wasted in the applicator and its not all up there in a blob but spread around where needed.

The applicator delivers the 'paste' into the vagina, any residue is removed by washing in warm water and using a very small bottle brush. Wiped and dried, job done.

Thanks, when i used the applicator there was always quite a bit left iin that had to be washed out, as you only get a small 15g tube i thought there was a lot wasted that had to be washed away. I just apply with a clean finger now, much easier. I mostly use for the outer bits so applicator not really necessary.
