Hrt gel advice please
« on: August 23, 2021, 08:18:11 PM »

Hi, I posted about my VA last week, its not improving, so I thought I'd research hrt as when I've sat and assessed myself I really think I need to treat the rest of my symptoms. I watched divination and have read loads and I can identify with everything.
I've just plucked up courage to ring the docs, I told receptionist I'd like to discuss hrt with a doc only to be told ring back tomorrow no appointments. So I've requested a telephone call on weds, I think the doc I'm speaking with first diagnosed my VA.
So, I think I'd like to start off with the gel. I'd love to hear from any of you that have tried it  also can it be used alongside the estriol?
Any tried and trusted hrt advice welcome.
Thankyou

Hi oestrogen gel is a good choice as it is transdermal and so has less risks. I’ve been using it for 3 years .

If you have a womb you will also need progesterone.

It can be used with oestradiol cream for VA. x

Thankyou Dotty, just trying to get my research done before I speak to doc on weds, just watching a doctor talk about body identical gels and patches  which I think I would like to try. Anyhoo I'm hopeful for something positive x

The Balance app from Dr Louise Newson, helps you track your symptoms and allows you to print out a health report for your doctor to assist them with prescribing. There’s also lots of articles and advice in the app which may help you get informed for a discussion with your GP.

I realise it’s a bit late now, but I still use it as my HRT isn’t perfect and I like to be able the track when my moods are low so that I can maybe tweak my meds with my specialist and get things working a bit better.

It helped me identify that moving from the gel to the patch wasn’t working for me, so I’m back on the gel and it works really well. Each of us are different and our bodies react differently but I know that the gel is the method of choice for the consultants I know of.
