Burning legs
« on: August 15, 2021, 04:49:50 PM »

HI Ladies,

does anyone get burning legs after walking , or general moving around - stairs etc.
My thighs especially have started burning recently. It tends to where off after sitting down for a bit. I am slightly worried as this is a " new " thing that appears to be getting worse. It feels like I have just done several hundred squats. I am also wondering if lack of testosterone causes this?

Hi peppermints
I have been suffering with painful tight thighs for maybe 3 months. I do run and do quite a bit of walking but my thighs seem to feel heavy  and tight for much longer than I would expect. I am 6 weeks in on femsevern conti and this last couple of days this symptom along with my anxiety seems to be improving, but it could just be a temporary improvement so fingers crossed it carry’s on getting better and you too find something that helps.

Hi pepperminty

Yes this has been one of my most constant symptoms for about 18 months now. It's worst in bed and worse the more I've walked that day.
It's a burning from my feet and comes up my legs. HRT has helped the aching and restless legs a bit - although they've come back lately - but the hrt has never eased the burning yet for me xxx

Hi Cookie25,

it is so hard to try and work out what is going on. The pain can be awful.

I think it may be testosterone related. We have more testosterone than estrogen in our bodies which declines with age. It gives us our muscle strength and stamina amongst other things. Also low iron can cause issues. Iron can be an issue with restless legs.  Apparently if your Ferritin is below 30 you are deficient and that can cause issues. The NHS lower levels are too low. My specialist told me that ladies should be aiming for a Ferritin level of 80 to 150 for optimal health.

My calves were burning as I woke this morning - I have sciatica so it might be related to kneeling whilst gardening .........

Restless leg syndrome was cured 4 me by eating bananas every day.

Several years ago I woke in the early hours with intense pain deep in the thighs, enough to make me yell - so painful I couldn't make a noise! It took months 4 me to realise it was due to my bending over from the waist, looking into cabinets at antique fairs.
