Hi,

I am thinking about this at the moment. Has anyone had any positive experiences they could share?

I am probably going to try Provera in Sept but if I struggle a hysterectomy might be the way forward (currently on Estradot 100mcg, 2 pumps of Estrogel, a blob of testogel and taking a break from progesterone for this month).

I have tried looking at the PMDD Facebook group but found quite a lot of people posting for whom they hadn’t got the HRT right and were struggling which worried me.

My concern is I would hate to make things worse for myself. I don’t have to make a decision now but I would love to hear from anyone who has had one who was already on HRT and how it went.

I have a feeling my own hormones can be quite erratic in the the moment.

Thank you lovely ladies xxx

Hysterectomy is a huge, major operation.

How certain are you that symptoms will ease by surgery?

R U in peri-menopause which can last 10+ years B4 menopause.  Even then some symptoms may continue due to the ovaries spitting out small amounts of oestrogen.

How long have U been on your current regime?  Why isn't it 'working' as such .......... ?

What is 'reproductive depression'?   Have U been prescribed appropriate anti-depressant medication, some need it as well as HRT.

Hi CLKD,

I know you are trying to be supportive but your message isn’t helpful right now.

I have detailed all the answers to your questions in various other posts.

I was asking for experiences but feel like I’ve been told off.

It would be keyhole surgery and I am well aware it is a big decision, hence seeking experiences from others.

I would join the Facebook group Hysterectomy Sisters UK and ask on there. I am pretty sure you are more likely to find people that have had that experience in that group and will be able to answer your questions x

They were all very helpful to me both before and after my hysterectomy in June!

Thank you so much Gnatty, I’ll do that.

CLKD, I didn’t mean to be rude. I cant keep all my questions to one thread as different questions come up along the journey. I just felt a bit interrogated but I understand it came from a good place. I might be a bit sensitive at the moment! Xx

Clkd was right in that it’s a big op, it didn’t end well for me and the complications caused by the surgery mean I can’t have HRT at all now.
Hope you find the answers you are looking for 🙏

Seems there is a lot to be wary about with a hysterectomy  :'(

First, have a hug.
Second, my sense is you might benefit from putting a wee bit of space around it all. This could allow you to come into your own power and help you feel less blown about? Then, you might consider a letter to Dr. Currie on here or a one-off session with a neutral listening ear? Whilst it's great getting everyone else's take, those can only be about their unique experience, views, even unconscious projections which may not be relevant to your unique situation at all. This is where the space comes in, my dear. We're all under the same sky here, but our clouds are all uniquely formed. Take some time. There's plenty. 💚

No worries Mindfulmoomins.  Peri and menopause are a lot to take on if symptoms 'hit'.

I thought it was simply the end of periods and a few hot flushes  >:(

Little steps!

Postmeno, thank you. You are right. There is plenty of time and I am trying to force a solution because I am feeling so wobbly. Better to breathe, rest and take my time. I do feel totally blown about. I can’t seem to find my inner strength these past few days.

I really needed that hug, thank you!
