Oestradiol advice
« on: August 10, 2021, 05:26:39 AM »

I’ve been trying thinner HRT right for over 2 years now! I’m now in 6 pumps Oestrogel( I’m a poor absorber) since increasing to 6 pumps I can feel some positives But I am now having disturbed sleep and waking with palpitations! I’m currently doing 3 pumps AM and PM! Would it be worth changing that around? Does anyone apply more at a certain time ?

Hi Flan, yeah I found that using the gel at night (I'm on three pumps), even with the Utrogestan, made me really wired and increased my pulse rate, and affected my sleep (what sleep I was getting that is).  Switched to gel in the a.m. and that sorted it.  As you are on six pumps (wow, can't they find you another way of getting the oestrogen you need?) you'll be pushed to find enough places all at once to put it on, maybe try splitting it during the morning?  Maybe try out not using at night and see what happens, then take it from there?  Best of luck xxx

Thank you Lamplighter! Didn’t absorb the patches and the tablet form gave me terrible stomach issues which I just couldn’t handle! My idea was to try 4 AM and 2 PM to see if that helped🤞

Hi Flan
When I was on gel, I used to apply it all in the morning, as I found it energized me. Maybe apply at night, 2 inner thighs, 2 outer thighs and two buttocks or outer arms?

Agree with Lamp ,that’s a fair whack of gel! Can they switch you over to spray or patch for ease?

Good luck 👍

Sorry, just seen you didn’t absorb patches.

Lenzetto is meant to be good? Spray and go. One spray so the equivalent of two pumps I think.

Thank you Nas! I do inner thighs and outer arms I hadn’t thought of anywhere else if I’m honest! I have a Newson clinic appt in the 3rd September so maybe the spray will be an option although I’m happy applying the gel if it makes me feel human again(which I’m not at the moment) getting bloods done as a marker before my appt to find out absorption

😄 great  minds think alike! I’ve been reading up in the spray but didn’t appear that many are actually on it

P.s I meant apply in the mornings!
Don’t think I’m absorbing much either, given my brain hardly works the days!  🤞

Do you think I could apply 6 AM?
My brain fog is embarrassing now sometimes I can’t get my words out! Thinking maybe I could try testosterone soon?

Well the spray is interesting. It’s been around while now, but not all areas have it on the list to prescribe.

I’m under Chelsea and Westminster and they say it’s not that marvelous and a weaker strength compared to the two gels.

Paula Briggs however  ( excellent specialist in Liverpool) says women are reporting great results and it’s a very easy and quick way to get
Oestrogen into the body. So who knows!

It’s so hard when you need more than the licensed dose, in the same.

When your Oestrogen is at optimum level, ask for testosterone yes.

If you use testosterone before then, the body will just convert it to Oestrogen and you won’t feel the benefit of the testosterone ( if that makes sense)

Definitely experiment with applying the gel at  different times and parts of the body, as it can make all the difference!

Thank you so much Naz definitely going to change the application! I’ve applied 3 this morning so maybe apply 2 PM and start tomorrow 4 and 2? Is that what you would do ?

Yes I think it’s worth experimenting with the times and parts of body, as I think some parts absorb better than others.

When you know what your Oestrogen  levels are, maybe ask for testosterone. It’s meant to help improve libido, cognitive function, sleep etc, as we lose that hormone during meno too.

I have just swopped from Oestrogel (on it for over 20 years) to Lenzetto and I love it.  The Menopause consultant said that Lenzetto is much better absorbed than Oestrogel.  Also Oestrogel formula changed a while back and it made me feel very jittery and unwell as apparently it does not absorb so well and my Oestrogen level blood test proved it as it was very low.  She said a lot of her patients had noticed Oestrogel was not working so well and she has changed them onto Lenzetto now xx
