What sets off your hot flushes?m
« on: August 03, 2021, 05:39:56 PM »

I'm hot a lot now! Almost constantly and seem to have everything set them off.
Hot drinks, hair dryer, room thats stuffy and no fresh air.
Is this normal?
Thinking of sleeping in the chest freezer!

Hi, chocolate, even drinking chocolate  :( and coffee. Same as you with hair drier, stuffy room.
Oh, anything sugary too. I’m keeping a diary as I think more sets them off. I bet everything on the naughty list sets them off!

Mine were every 20 minutes in the end no matter what I ate, drank, wore, where I was or what state of mind I was in.

I didn't recognise mine as hot flushes until I went on hrt and they stopped. They never came spontaneously, only after some external heat source - hot drink, sitting by the fire etc. I was never dripping sweat, just too warm and uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, mine has been triggered by hrt patches.

Now they come and go quite frequently. Sometimes there isn't a trigger, but if there is it's usually if I eat/drink something hot or spicy. Getting stressed or worked up.

Funnily exercise doesn't trigger it, or maybe I don't notice because  I'm sweating during it anyway. ;D

I was the same loonarider, flushes on hrt which I didn’t have prior! Set off for me when I went up to three pumps. I ended up coming off as a result x

That's a shame. Wondering what to do next now. Considering cutting my evorel 50 patch into a quarter.

May be useless though with negligible effect at such a low dose. I really wanted the patches to work *sighs* so, I guess I'll be beginning my journey searching for the holy grail of hrt. :(

The nights are a total nightmare at the minute.  I remember this from last Summer when I was constantly hot and cold all night when it was warm at night.  I'm so tempted to sleep on the sofa in the conservatory with the door open.  It'll be 7 years in 2 weeks since my surgical menopause started and it's still going on - some symptoms new and others (like the hot flushes) on going.  The weather is definitely making them worse though.  I do sympathise.  Caffeine sets one off too but there is no way I could get by without one coffee in the morning. :-( xxx

Mine were not that bad, I really feel for you and hope they aren’t like that now.

There didn't used to be any rhyme or reason, they'd come out of nowhere.

Lately though, gin ... which is why I have to drink it with ice and a slice :)

Hot drinks, hot meals, getting into bed and under the covers at night, stuffy rooms, ironing and standing in front of the oven while using the hob. Worst of all cuddling up with the hubby in bed  😂

Hi
My hot flushes seem to be more about movement than food,
Getting up to the loo during the night can set it off, walking up the stairs, hoovering, putting the bucket out, anything really and doesn't have to be strenuous or fat paced.
