I might use an extra pillow tonight then get hubby to raise the bed. Not sure how the pillow under the feet would work either 🤔 I feel not too bad today too, thought I would be a bit yuck after starting the omeprazole again. Next will be my diet because I’m sure certain foods trigger it off too x

...and drinks too. Carbonated ones are really bad plus orange juice as too acidic and white wine too. Also lying in your right side can trigger it. I can't remember why though.

Thanks Taz, I sleep on my left side thankfully! I stopped fizzy drinks years ago when I had h pylori along with orange juice and very rarely have alcohol. What an exciting life eh!  ;D X

The stomach is on the left side.  When I lay in bed my stomach makes lots of noise  :o.  If I lay on the right it's fine  ::)

I found this about which side to lie on when you have GERD.

"Right Side: It’s not Right for Acid Reflux
Position #2 to avoid at night is…sleeping flat on your right side. When lying flat on your right side, your stomach is actually above your oesophagus creating a leaky faucet spouting stomach acid into the delicate lining of your oesophagus. This is especially true when your stomach is full. Interestingly, when lying flat on your right side, your reflux symptoms tend to be more liquid in nature4 leading to regurgitation, coughing, and choking, which can be very scary in the middle of the night. Since gravity is doing nothing for you in this position, the amount of time acid lingers in your oesophagus is much longer so stay off your right side.

So, back sleeping is bad. Right side sleeping is bad. What’s a GERD sufferer to do?

Left Side: Reduces Reflux
Sleep on your left side. Gravity will work in your favour on your left side as your stomach is now positioned below your oesophagus, which makes reflux more difficult. Should stomach acid escape, gravity is able to return it to your stomach quicker than when on your right side or on your back which is why the left is usually the best side to sleep on to avoid acid reflux. Where the right side often produces liquid reflux, when on your left side, reflux symptoms tend to be more gaseous in nature, which may be annoying but much less distressing. Studies show that symptoms are less frequent and less severe when on your left side as compared to on your right side or on your back7 making it the most desirable flat sleep position"

Crikey you've been busy  :great:

I know that there is no gurgling when I sleep on my right side, can't sleep on my back  ::)

Thank goodness I don’t have acid reflux. Can’t sleep on my left side due to nerve damage in my left leg!

Thanks for all that Taz! I start off on my back first then sleep on my left. I’ve got an extra pillow tonight so fingers crossed as I felt yuck when I woke up this morning but not sure if it’s due to starting omeprazole again or a flare up :'( x

Ju Ju you are lucky!

When do you take your omeprazole DeeMarie? Is it once a day?
