Help Fesmoston 2/10 hair loss
« on: July 19, 2021, 03:23:55 PM »

Hello, I am 39 yo and with endometriosis.
Last year I had an ovary removal becauses of endometriosis  cyst. My hair was fine and in good health inAugsut and September and befor I start  Femoston.

As soon as i took in October Femoston my hair started to shed.
He told me to stop and sent le to a gnye that knows ménopause who told me that it's not Femoston's side effect. So I said ok .. then in Décember I stoped in order to prepare the embryo transfer .

In April a took again Climaston 2/10 (femoston) and the shedding restarted!!
I was so upstet. As it is not in the leaflet, the doc won't recognise the side effect. I had blood test, everything is fine.

I stopped in taking the Hrt on 17 June. I had enough and heavy blood. I called the health service in my country and they told le they had had some cases of hair loss.

I had been on chemical menaupose before to dry my endometriosis and never expérienced any shedding.

I lost 50 percent of my hair. Will it grow back?   I'ts been 4 weeks I am off the Femoston.
It's really hard. I never expérienced this, I took a lot of hormonal like utrogestan, progynova to try to conceive and never had hair loss.

I can't sleep at night because of that, did you grow your hair back After quitting Femoston ?
I am so desperate, i am anxious and scared and angry at me and at my doc.
Thank you

My hair also shed but on oestrogel. It happened again this year when I tried Vagifem even!

I came off it and it continued to shed until June when it started to grow back

Apparently your hair can shed as a result of trauma, injury, medications and it can take between 3-6 months to get back to its normal pattern. Good news is when it’s caused by a medication it’s just temporary. It will grow back. I thought it never would but it did x

Hi Scampidudle,
Thank you very much for responding and shared your experience. May I Ask how long have you been taking vagifem before stopping it? Are you taking  another hrt?

I'm ,5 weeks cold turkey. Not on other Hrt. Hair still shedding. My gp wanted to give me AD to cope with my anxiety related to hair loss but I refused.
I m afraid that 2 months on Femoston losing my hair was too much anf too late and that I should have stopped it right away instead of listening to my menaupose specialist.

Have a good day.

I was 4 months taking oestrogel and about a week taking vagifem.

It will grow back. There’s a name for it, temporary hair loss related to a shock to the system whether by meds or whatever else. It is temp though. Mine took months and clumps falling out in the shower and was so traumatic. But back to normal now. X

Thanks Scampidoodle.
I should have stopped rightway, like 5 days after taking Femostonn like you did with vagifem because my hair was falling out at the begining (Oestradiol only pills).

I am off the hrt, I take nothing. When your hair grew back, did you were taking  an hrt?

Yes it is traumatic. I have curly hair, every time intouch my hair, i have hair n my hand., Evey where. I a m so scare to brush it to shampoo it...

R U certain that 'vagifem' caused hair loss?   It is an essential treatment for many who suffer vaginal atrophy.  Do read the 'bladder issues' and 'vaginal atrophy' threads.  Make notes ;-)

Do let us know how your hair regrows.

No I haven’t continued with HRT at all. So I was on nothing when it started to grow back. I’m certain it was the oestrogel that caused my hair to shed despite all medical professional saying it should do the opposite. My doctor then just said well its hormones they do weird things. But it grew back about a month after I stopped oestrogel.

Then 6 months later I tried vagifem and the same reaction . This time it took probably 5 months to stop.

I’m certain it will grow back if you’re off it now. It might take a few weeks/months but it will x

Many thanks Scampidoodle ! I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to respond again, it gives me hope.

Me too the oestrogene did that as it started with the only oestrogen pill of the tablet.
Scalp still feels lile someone is picking my hair one by one and I know it means that my hair is still falling out. I have a good evening.
