Weight gain
« on: July 12, 2021, 03:16:51 PM »

Hi Ladies.  Just wondering how you combat weight gain since hitting the menopause?  I've joined a gym since they reopened and walk 3 - 4 km most days but although I feel fitter the weight isn't shifting.  It's worse around my tummy area.  I can't do sit ups as I have a lower back problem.  Any tips or advice please. It's getting me down now.

Hi Millie,

I'm battlin gwith weight gain due to being on psychiatric drugs which make you put on weight. The weird thing is I don't feel any hungrier and I'm not eating any more, but I've put on over a stone since last autumn. Finding all I can do is strictly limit my daytime intake to fruit, and then have a normal but healthy meal in the evening - I don't really like eating a lot of carbs so my meals tend to be mainly protein and fat. I also  take a lot of exercise in my daily life - cycling, walking and yoga.  But it's a constant battle, and one I'm not used to - I never ever had any problems with weight before this so it's pretty frustrating.
