Hi,
how awful for you. I would first of all if you can afford it, or from the Doctor/ specialist who recomended HRT to you get some expert advice.
It is all about risk and benefit.
Gp's are not experts in HRT and therfore you need someone who is. There are risks/ side effects in all medication . And if you are well informed it is you who make the choice! I think that you need to either be referred to a menopause clinic or go privately to a specialist that can help. Loiuse Newson's clinic is supposed to be excellent .
I am not a medical expert , so you need a clear explanation and advice from someone who is very well versed in HRT . I have found this on Loiuse Newson's website and it mentions LUPUS

Also looking at life style chages and there is a study that shows that eating 5 prunes a day improves bone density. ( every little helps. Also look at getting some small hand weights and get a referal to your physio or health club, GP's can refer for exercise on presciption ( that hopefully should still be going on now restrictions have lifted ) for your heart and bones.
Also if you have a male partner / friend take him with you to appoitments as statistically it shows that doctors respond more favourably when men are present .
Let us kow how you get on.
