Ovestin cream
« on: June 03, 2021, 07:38:03 AM »

Morning all this is my first post
Looking for some advice i am 66 and have been having problems with soreness/ burning pain at first my GP said I had a water infection and gave me antibiotics they didn’t work on my next appointment they said I needed to used Ovestin  cream 0.1% and to use it for three weeks then twice a week. I have just finished three weeks and still feel stinging/ burning it’s not as bad but still uncomfortable can anyone advise me how long it takes to clear up and be pain free I have read it could take up to six weeks to clear up if this correct is there anything I can buy to help relieve the symptoms.
Any help would really be appreciated
Thanks Ann C

Morning.  Some of us find that inserting either 'ovestin' [me] or 'vagifem' internally then using 'ovestin' on the tip of a finger around the outer labia eases symptoms.  GPs are quick with the old ABs rather than sending a urine sample away to be tested to see whether it grows a 'bug' to be treated.

Have a lookC at our 'bladder issues' and vaginal atrophy' threads; make notes  ;). Some find that 'yes' or 'sync' products help the outer labia whereas I use 'KY Jelly' when especially dry.  To ease the 'need2P' feelings I take 2 Nurofen 3 times a day for 2 days.

Let us know how you get on.   :welcomemm:

Hi Avalon

Sorry you are still feeling uncomfortable. You sound like you could do with a vaginal moisturiser as well as the Ovestin. I use Yes vaginal moisturiser , all organic ingredients and very soothing. You can get it online. Can’t recommend it highly enough really sorted me out when I had similar issues.

Symptoms are due to a drop in oestrogen level.  Apprpropriate treatment eases by plumping up vaginal tissues ;-)

Hi all really sorry for being a pain about this Ovestin cream that I have been using.
I have started spotting is this one of the side effects I am just really worried it’s something more serious.

It may be that the vaginal tissues are so thin that the applicator may have scratched one side of the vagina causing a small bleed.  Continue with the 'ovestin', mayB have a lookC with a mirror to find out how the overall vaginal area looks?
