Hi

My GP surgery has just advised me that they can only prescribe 2 months supply of HRT at a time ( I’m on Utrogestan and Oestrogel).  Until the last year or so I used to get 6 months at a time.  Does anyone know what the NICE guidelines are? It’s such a nuisance having to do it every 2 months and of course, the cost is so much more.  I see that Dr Louise Newson , The Menopause Doctor, says there’s no reason why a year’s supply can’t be prescribed but I wondered what the official line is?

I'm only allowed one month's worth at a time. It's been like that for the whole of the fourteen years I've been on it.

Hi Taz2, wow only 1 month at a time, what a hassle.  I thought 2 months was bad enough.  I think I’m going to formally write to my doctor to ask why …. I’m healthy, good blood pressure etc, only weigh 9 stone and they only do an annual check so I can’t understand why they are causing extra work for themselves, the pharmacy and me. Perhaps it’s all down to the extra revenue they receive x

I get three months worth now, ever since Covid broke out.
It was just a month before that. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ive just renewed mine, its for 6 months. It was reduced to 3 months when there were shortages last year and put back up this year.

I get 2 months but it actually lasts 3 (6 week cycle and completely empty the gel). I'm going to see if I can get more next time now I'm antiquated enough to get free prescriptions. Does anyone know the admin cost for a prescription? It might give me some ammunition.
