Newbie looking for help with HRT side effects
« on: June 01, 2021, 08:03:13 PM »

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. I've been experiencing perimenopausal symptoms for 7 months, anxiety, low moods, bursting into tears, fatigue, brain fog, forgetting words, trouble concentrating, night sweats etc. My doctor advised starting HRT and prescribed Elleste Solo 1mg and Mirena coil. Before having the coil fitted I would have mild cramping and a light flow the first day of my period, heavier flow the second and third day, back to light fourth and fifth day. Since having the coil fitted my period has changed to spotting and painful cramping. I understand that the coil can affect periods and cause more cramping and can take months to settle down. I was just wondering if any of you lovely ladies out there have had similar experiences? I look forward to hearing from you  :)

Hi there I had the coil fitted 18 months ago and it was really awful to begin with but it did settle down and improved my mood have since added Testogel to help my energy levels too. It feels crazy taking all this stuff to get get through it.. Patches, pills and gels. Keep going till you find what works. We are all in this together  :)

Hi Denise, Thanks for your feedback it's reassuring to know that the side effects do settle down with time. I did ask the doctor at the time of fitting what side effects I might experience with HRT but he was very vague and never mentioned the cramping every day and changes to my period. I think it's very sad that us ladies have to hunt for information on the internet and are left in the dark regarding perimenopause and our bodies changing during this time. We are left unprepared for all the symptoms we start to get and at first we think we are going mad  :'( I saw my friend for the first time after lockdown restrictions and began talking to find out we are both feeling exactly the same way. It was a relief for us both to know that we're not going round the bend and we're suffering with perimenopausal symptoms. It's good to know that we're all in it together :)
