Biopsy results ok, but now what?
« on: May 24, 2021, 10:52:42 AM »

Biopsy and fibroid removal showed no sign of cancerous or pre cancerous cells, so yay!

However, I was just signed off with a letter saying "no further action".

Problem is, my endometrial lining was 8mm which is probably why I've been bleeding/spotting for ten weeks and counting, and my own GP has no idea what to do next and just said "mirena coil".

OK, but what if I don't want the coil, and how will I know when my lining is back to normal size, and if the bleeding occurs again (well, let's face it, it hasn't stopped yet) how do I know if this is a continuation of the existing problem, or a new one?

Anyone else been dismissed like this with no follow up advice, and what did you do?

Doc recommends I get back in contact with the hospital gynae to ask these questions as he was surprised so little info was given, but it's very difficult to get hold of them (I'll try, obviously).

Honestly, was fuming when I got the letter.  Obviously happy the results were good, but the problem persists and no one seems to give a monkeys

That's a common problem.  'no further action' but they don't think any further.  As far as they are concerned, it ain't cancerous so no need for further treatment.

Your GP should be in contact with the Gyane .... I would be suggesting that mine send an e-mail asking the questions.  It takes about 10 mins.!

My DH has had two 'no further action's on his notes, even the GP wasn't aware !  until he went to query it as he was still getting pain !!

It's cost cutting all the way  >:(. It should not be up to the patient to chase up results etc., that's what we *pay* our NI for!

I'm not sure what you're on now but your gp is right that the mirena does often solve bleeding problems that other forms of progesterone don't. I know 'no further action' is frustrating but that's presumably just from the point of her specialism. Can't your gp contact them to ask what they advise? They're more likely to answer her than you.

Well quite, I doubt they’ll respond to me!

This has been annoying more and more all day.

If it wasn’t so expensive I’d go private  😡

You could try an email to Dr Currie, I think it's £30.

Oh!  £30? That might be worth a go then - thank you!
