The worst month ever
« on: February 07, 2021, 10:54:25 AM »

A month ago  I had to have my mirena coil removed. I was currently taking 2mg oestrogen tablet, but then changed to 2mg oestrogen/progesterone as the coil was no longer in place. Since starting the new regime 5 weeks ago I have never felt so ill. I have had internal shaking/sweating/headaches/pelivic pain before the bleeding started (which was not to bad). I have felt the lowest I have ever felt and now have a rash on my tummy and arms. Could be a heat rash. I keep standing out in the cold just to cool down. I do not feel like I can carry on like this. Hope it will settle soon x

Couldn't you have a new coil put in and go back to the your original regime, im not up on this sort of thing but if it workrd before why change?

I have an incompetent cervix and the coil was sitting in it causing me so much pain, plus whilst on the coil I bleed neraly every day for 18 months. Thought having it removed was the best option at the time.

That's awful.  Hormonal upheaval can make us feel really ill  :-\

Who is in charge of your medication/HRT? I would ring them into the morning and ask for an appt., GPs are still seeing patients.

  lay it on thick how ill you are feeling.

Sounds like it was best to remove the coil but you need to go back to your GP as CLKD said. Usually you're supposed to give any new HRT at least 3 months to settle but not  if you are having severe side effects that are making you feel so ill. Hope you're sorted soon.

What is it you're on? Is it the same oestrogen? Sequi or conti? If the rash is an allergic reaction you should stop straight away, it will only get worse. I think you need something different.

Spoke with GP this morning as the rash seems to be getting no better. She asked me to send in photos, which I did and she rang me straight back. She things it is an allergic reaction possible to the new HRT, so has asked me to come off it!!! I feel bad enough on it, what will I feel like in a few days..............HELP x

Stop as suggested.  Why will you feel worse?  Let us know how you get on.

Two things, could this be histamine?  Histamine and estrogen go around on a loop, prog is supposed to be mast cell (histamine) calming but isn't always.

Secondly, how is your iron?  Reason I say that is I get horrific shaking, anxiety, inner vibrations, horrible, horrible horrific symptoms when iron is low, around my period I honestly feel like I'm going to die, fast pulse, shake like a leaf, feel mental.  Really would not wish that on my worst enemy.

I've got a thread going about iron deficiency - last posted this afternoon so near the top of the forum, last post there today I link a paper 'iron deficiency without anaemia' which I really, really recommend.  If your Hb is under 130 and your ferritin is under 100 honestly you will feel properly unwell but this is so poorly understood by docs, it won't get picked up.  I've just had an iron infusion and all the shaking and DefCon 4 stuff has stopped.  Iron and histamine are connected and I've also had a massive amelioration in histamine symptoms including rash.  I now also seem to be tolerating progesterone better.

I get that it's complex but IRON seems to be the key factor for me, my gynae was fascinated by what I'd learned, turns out most of my 'hormone' symptoms are actually iron.

Hope that helps.

Hi there, I got diagnosed with chronic anaemia 2 years ago and I haven’t felt well since. I developed dry eyes and hair loss etc.

They say my iron/ferritin is normal but it is still only 28.

I take gentle iron and spatone eat iron rich foods.

I’ve been on HRT for 3 months which is helping but now have a rash, sore feet and ears.

Seen lots of specialists but no help.

Lost.

How are you getting on now?

It has now been 14 weeks since I came off HRT completely, and hey I am still here.!!!!
Generally feel really good, apart from about of vertigo last week, it came on right in the middle of having sex, one minute I was fine, the next the room was spinning at a million miles an hour!!! Hubby was not pleased.
The strange thing is that the rash I had to start with has come back, and the only thing different was the travel sickness pill I took to help the the vertigo.
Also had no bleeding for 14 weeks, the longest ever in my life. I do not know when my last natural period was due to being on the pill for years before starting HRT. Thank ladies xxx
