I have hashimotos thyroid disease ( autoimmune disease)
i was having symptoms of peri menopause so I had my female hormones tested 6 months ago then again recently.
my day 3 oestrodiol had descreased compared to 6 months ago. my FSH and LH are high plus SHBG. some say this can be due to being over medicated or taking t3 but my thyroid tests showed my free t4 is 4 % and free t3 56 % so i’m not over medicated.
am wondering if this is peri menopause?
i have sleep issues & palpitations, and had bad PMT which has eased with progesterone cream.


i take progesterone cream days 14-26

I had chest x-ray, ECG and bloods at a&e recently all of which the doctor said were unremarkable ( including calcium and magnesium)

is anyone taking NDT or T3 who is also on HRT?

Free T3 5.2 (3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L) the calculator says this is 56.76%
Free Thyroxine (FT4) 12.4 (12 - 22 pmol/L) the calculator says this is 4%
( pls note that on my next test two weeks later this was up to 15 so 33 %)

( i have some saliva progesterone, dhea and cortisol results from sept 2020 which showed oestrogen dominance and one slightly low, mid morning cortisol but didn’t want to post too much, have no yet had these re-tested as waiting for day 21)

i’ve used to search box and whilst there is lots about thyroid nothing about ndt ( a thyroid medication combining t4 and t3)

i’ve already done a lot of research and paid lots of money, my question is quite specific: i’m asking if anyone who is taking ndt or t3 medication is experiencing low oestrodil or symptoms of early menopause

i’ve been self treating with specialist input at intervals from both nhs and private, for 7 year. i’ve been reading louise newson and alva website , and watching the davina mccall documentary tonight. my main stumbling block is most don’t test hormones they treat on symptoms. however my symptoms overlap with my autoimmune disease, so i tested female sex hormones to try and distinguish what is going on

It is dreadful that many GPs won't test thyroid function beyond certain levels even when patients continue to complain of symptoms  .

I agree, myself and 4 members of my family are paying regularly to import medication, test full thyroid panel & now i’m doing the same for female hormones

I take NDT (Armour) and I have struggled twice to tolerate HRT and I did wonder if they were perhaps incompatible in some way. I am about to try again using bio-identicals. I have Hashimoto's too. I am also trying to unravel it all at the moment and I don't know what to do for the best.

I find that my T3 is too high when my T4 is just about OK. Very odd.

All of my other hormones according to blood tests have done and are doing what is 'expected' from late peri to now post (3 yrs) They seemed to do their own thing - so carried on regardless, but it is odd that even the lowest doses of HRT send me haywire.
