Premature Menopause
« on: May 06, 2021, 07:59:22 AM »

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to be or not but I just need a little help. I haven't yet been confirmed if I am premature menopause but everything leads to it. My doctor's aren't very helpful and am currently looking into getting a new doctor.

I just wanted to see how some other ladies started there premature menopause and what made them think I need to get this checked out.

It all started 8 months ago. I started waking up dripping in sweat, which moved to also waking in the night to pee/drink. I can't stop drinking fluid through the day and I've even started sweating all through the day. I've never suffered with BO before but I am now. I feel tired and deflated all the time. The slightest thing my partner does that annoys me now makes me really angry and I don't know why. Before I would shrug it off, but now I want to rip his head off. My toddler has also started to really annoy me all the time and I know it's not his fault, it's the way my emotions are right now (I don't let him see that he is annoying me). My weight is also fluctuating from 9 and half to 11 and half stone. I have very tender if not sore breasts and lots off back/cramping pains.

I am on sertraline for depression and have been upped to 150mg to see if that was the problem with my moods, but it has remained the same. I have had my thyroid checks, diabetes, liver, kidneys, heart etc. The last thing to test is my hormones.

I just wanted to know is this how other ladies premature menopause started or is it something completely different I am looking at.

If it helps I'm only 26 and kinda pooping myself

A hormone test is the pretty definitive one.
I would recommend The daisy network which is the specialist organisation for women who suffer with premature menopause. They are very good.

I started at 38 with hot flushes and a blood test confirmed early meno. I started immediately on HRT, as it is needed desperately to protect bones, heart etc. All the best in your journey, plenty of support here and advice, I suggest you ask for the patch or the gel with some progesterone, its def the easiest way and safest or you could of course take the birth control pill as well till you are older. Daisy Network was very good back then.

What are your periods doing? Whilst you can get meno symptoms before irregular periods it's more usual for them to come at the same time. If it is meno it's really important to use hrt at least until your early 50s to protect your heart and bones. You can ask for a referral to an NHS menopause clinic if your gp is unable to prescribe appropriately.

Agentcoulson, given your age I would definately recommend requesting a referrral to meno clinic, no matter how up to date your GP's are the meno consultants have much more knowledge and especially regarding early meno. If you put in the search box peri or early meno you will be able to access previous posts myself and others have put on in relation to this. If you are peri menopausal the blood tests are not reliable, the guidance is that symptoms should be what's taken into consideration, I now know this from painful experience of being passed from pillar to post cause my bloods were 'normal' if only I knew then what I know now. All the best and hope you get answrs & appropriate treatment. x

Hi! also look at the Daisy web-site, specifically for 'early' menopause support. HRT is recommended to protect bones and heart muscle.

Browse round.  Read the threads about bladder issues and vaginal atrophy. Make notes  ;).  If you are drinking a lot, ask for another test specifically for diabetes: both urine and blood tests.  I rarely need to grab a drink - though after my AZ vaccine in Feb. for 24 hours I was really thirsty.  The body on the whole hydrates itself - think about whether you have a lot of liquid based foods, i.e. soups?

Some find keeping a mood/food/symptom diary useful.  Keep asking, there's usually someone around !
