Hi Ladies,

I would appreciate hearing experiences re the following:

Does anyone find Evorel Conti patch helps with their a) libido b) energy c) mood d) sleep?

Has anyone tried adding some additional oestrogen successfully?
Has anyone tried adding a pea size blob of Testogel successfully – or is it best not used as the progesterone in Evorel Conti is testosterone based?

Sorry for all the questions but I am trying to decide which hrt to settle on – I have tried many, all with their pros and cons!

Thank you! x

Hi CherryC, I too use Evorel Conti and I haven’t found it helps libido, but it does keep me calm without lowering my mood or making me bad tempered ( as FemSeven Conti did).  We are all different though and I know many women don’t get along with the norethisterone  in Evorel Conti. Initially it made me groggy and tired for a week or so but I soon adjusted and was just happy not to be feeling constantly anxious.  have more energy than before using hrt and I sleep better, but still sometimes wake a few times in the night. Aches and pains are less too, I call it my WD40 😁
I haven’t tried testosterone gel so couldn’t comment on that, but like you I am currently debating adding a touch more oestrogen as recently my VA has reared it’s ugly head again.
( see my other post on here)
Overall I’ve been really happy with this patch but as with a lot of things it’s try it and see, I hope you find it suits you.

a maybe, bcd yes.
Some people find libido improves with oestrogen. I had to add testosterone which usually has to be prescribed by a specialist. For me testosterone also improved lack of motivation and pulled muscles as well but they will only prescribe it for low libido, mine was zero. They say for evorel you should add a part patch so you get an increase in progesterone too (unlike utrogeston which is the same dose regardless of oestrogen dose). As I understand it you don't actually get any testosterone from an evorel conti patch. It's unfortunate there's so much guess work to hrt, it would be much better if what looked right on paper actually worked.

Ive been on evorel conti for over a year and it hasn't changed mood etc, but that wasn't really my problem. It has been good for my physical symptoms but recently I have started to get quite a few hot flashes so I would also like to add some extra oestrogen. I have been told that this is not possible ( if continuing with evorel conti) as it would endanger the endometrium lining. I haven't tried testosterone. Let us know if you find a solution.

Hi Ladies, thank you for your replies - much appreciated.
I did try Evorel Conti for 5 months and enjoyed certain benefits eg it felt quite balanced, mood reasonable, felt calm etc. However, it did nothing for my libido and sleep was pretty restless and fitful.  The consultant agreed I could try adding in some additional oestrogen (25mg patch or 1 or 2 pumps gel).  I tried the additional 25mg patch but after a short while, I became very irritable with mood swings so I stopped that.  However, back on just the Evorel Conti, the irritability/mood swings continued and were so bad I had to stop this too.  I returned to the previous regime of Estradot, Utrogestan + testogel 3 months ago but the mood swings have continued on this too which is baffling (no mood swings when I had been on this previously).
Pretty sure I will give the Estradot longer, with the option of trying Evorel Conti again if need be.
Sorry for the long explanation but as I'm sure you are all aware, nothing is clear cut when it comes to hrt, symptoms and side effects!
One thing I have learned is that chopping and changing can take a long time to re-settle, if at all!
Thank you again for your replies, which were very helpful! x
