Bio-identical hormones are supposed to be the best, because they are the closest match to our body's hormones. A lot of women take utrogestan (progesterone) and estrogel (estrogen). However, even when utrogestan is taken vaginally, a lot of women report side effects. It all depends on the the individual, and the regime they are on (ie is it continuous, or cyclical).
I personally have struggled with both progestogen based hrt (evorel conti)and utrogestan. There was a thread some dating back some time ago by Mary G who said she went to a specialist who prescribed 50mg progesterone a night; and it was bespoked for her by a reliable specialist. If I could contact her (after 10 posts), I would, as she says she has been fine on the regime. Have a search through the posts...easiest way is to put in 'progesterone intolerant' and 'Menopause Matters' on google, and it will take you to the right thread. The other options to look at are Femoston, or a mirena coil and estrogen. Some posts have mentioned a Jaydess coil; however I think practitioners are reluctant to use this as it delivers less progestogen than the mirena, which may/may not be enough for keeping the womb lining thin. Hopefully you will get some personal success stories on different hrt regimes.
