More questions - sorry!
« on: March 13, 2021, 08:43:23 AM »

Hi

Just wanted to get some opinions please.

So as some of you know I had a period a couple of weeks ago after skipping for 11 months.  Spoke to GP who wasn't concerned and whilst I was panicking that it was  never going to end it actually had stopped by day 8 and I've had nothing since.

However,  since i had this period I've felt awful to put it bluntly.  I felt hot the first couple of days after it stopped and actually thought I was coming down with a cold or something but nothing materialised.

Since then I've had on off headaches,  not bad enough to take tablets but just that horrible heavy head feeling.  I've also had nausea on and off most days,  a couple of days of boobs feeling sore and shaking.

I've just generally felt like C**p.  I popped to the shop yesterday and when I came back in I was shaking,  felt sick and horrible.  It passed after about 30 minutes and I know my anxiety has been high so that probably isn't helping but I'm not sure if this is all part of it.

Obviously,  something has happened with my hormones over the last few weeks to trigger a bleed/period and it seems odd that these symptoms seem to have come along as soon as the period ended.

I am seriously considering HRT but I'm wondering if it's worth going to a specialist clinic to get my levels tested.  Does anyone have any experience of this and if so would you recommend this route?

Thanks

Sara

I've only just come across your post and interested to hear about you shaking as this is something I have just had. Very scary. Mine was like I was in shock, couldn't stop. Lasted about a minute or so. What was yours like?

It sounds like high estrogen. You may have a low ovarian reserve and your body is trying really hard to ovulate but it’s not happening. So high FSH stimulates the ovaries but if they aren’t responding, estrogen can rise in response. If/when you don’t ovulate, there’s no progesterone to stabilize the lining, and no period. Eventually, the lining can build up to a point that you spontaneously have a period; it’s an anovulatory cycle. Maybe that’s what happened with your 8-day bleed. Then with things somewhat reset, your body tries again to ovulate, even harder. Sore boobs, nausea, that’s high estrogen.

You might be well served with the progesterone side of HRT if you are having enough estrogen right now. Like a Mirena. You could also get estrogel if you find you need that as well, but it sounds like you won’t want much.

Hi, I've only just seen your post, last April I had gone almost a year with no bleeding so thought great thats it I'm done but no. I had a horrendously painful few days and heavy. I have had nothing else for almost a year again but a couple of days ago started bleeding, arghh, what is that all about? I'm 55 and was hoping to be done with all this now  :-\
