Any advice
« on: March 22, 2021, 12:22:44 PM »

Hi all. New on here.  Just looking for a bit of advice.
I started on hrt patches due to peri menopause and was put on everol sequi.  Within 2 weeks all symptoms went and it was fab.  After 6 months still felt great but had 3 episodes of aura migraines without headaches.
My Gp took me off them straight away.   I was so upset.
I am now waiting for the next step from GP as all symptoms started to come back.  I am 47 and had the mini pill for years so not sure if my periods have stopped or not.
Gp said it’s not as simple as just reducing patch dosage? Think it’s my oestrogen that is not stable.  Just wondered if anyone has any advice. As cannot cope with all these symptoms again ?

Morning.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out - and muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary is useful to chart progress.   Also mayB decide which symptom you would like to ease first.   Something to discuss with your GP or Nurse Practitioner.

You can also ask your GP for a referral to a menopause clinic, not a gynaecologist as they often don't know much about menopause.   :welcomemm:

Hi. I've been on HRT for 14 years and five years developed aura migraines without headaches. My GP decided this was not a reason to stop HRT. It is advisable to inform your doctor to rule out anything else and he advised me to see an optician but all was ok. It seems mean to stop HRT without referring you to the eye clinic.

I've found this link from the BMS about migraine and HRT https://thebms.org.uk/2017/11/migraine-and-hrt/  You can either look at the advice for GP's or the advice for patients. Both state that migraine with aura shouldn't preclude you from HRT but that patch or gel is the preferred method. It also states that if you develop them for the first time after starting HRT then the dose of oestrogen should be lowered. I think this should be fairly quick and easy for the GP to do for you and that to take you off completely was an over-reaction unless you have developed high blood pressure too.

Good luck.

Thank you all for your advice.  Yes I did get these headaches years ago when I was on the combination pill and had to stop that.
Had a chat to optician and he was happy with my eyes.
Definitely going to ask to be referred to a specialist as cannot go back to feeling the way I did. !! I was so happy On the patches!! Thanks again.

Thank you I will keep you posted.

Hopefully  get sorted soon.

How far did the car roll?

I remember; you having said that ; one very icy Winter when cars parked outside work on a slope, gradually and quite gracefully slid into each other ........... fortunately the vehicles stopped prior to getting to the main automatic doors, glass from top to ground!
