HRT Post menopause Estrogen level - Advice Please
« on: March 23, 2021, 03:17:30 PM »

Hi Everyone, I have just turned 52 and post menopause.  I started my HRT journey at 50 taking Estrogel and Utrogestan 100mg (vaginally everyday) The problem that I had was that I wasn't absorbing the Estogel so I went from 4 pumps -6pumps. Symptoms seemed to improve a bit but still struggled and experienced break though bleeding. After a check, the lining of my womb was fine. I had an estrdiol blood test showed that 179. I couldn't cope with that amount of gel on my skin and so I changed to Estrodot 75, I still encountered hair shredding and falling out, dry skin etc so the menopause clinic said to increase to 100mg and it was agreed that I would increase to 2x75mg in October last year. I have reduced the dosed to 125mg last month and feeling more stable on this dose, my recent blood test in February showed 895pmols (I changed my patches less that 24hrs prior to my blood test)  I also take Utrogestan 200mg for 10 day (this causes moodiness, anxiety and low energy) but I always get a bleed a few day after taking the Utro. I also take Testim, a small blob every other day. I've had endometriosis is the passed and I'm worried that maybe my estrogen level is too high? I read many posts regarding estrogen levels and many are much lower than mine. I would like to change back to continuous HRT later this year and understand that I will gradually decrease the Estrogen. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. :)

 :welcomemm:

Perhaps put the names of the products into the search box and see what pops up, make notes ;-)

I don't take HRT so can't be much more help.

The nhs don't test levels so most of us don't know much about this. The guidelines are that you take the lowest dose that controls your symptoms. I woulddo as you suggest and keep reducing slowly until you find the optimal dose for you.

It’s not too high levels if they treat your symptoms, some of us need higher levels to feel well.
