Recently I’ve lowered my hrt dose. Apart from very dry skin and eyes (my original reasons for starting hrt) I’ve been feeling quite good, better than on the higher dose.
A couple of weeks ago I developed urticaria, I’ve had it constantly every day since. Could there be a link here? I’ve had a quick search on here but I’m mainly seeing urticaria due to high doses of hrt. Wondering if it could be due to low estrogen or to the change in the level of estrogen. I’m going out of my mind with the constant itching and reluctantly thinking I might need to up my dose again.
Hey Jaylow,
As you may have read my most recent post as a newbie about 'itching', I thought I would briefly share my experience. I developed this nearly 3yrs ago. Went to allergy clinics (nothing), immunologists (nothing), then I was put on an injectable form of treatment as 4 x antihistamines a day wasn't doing a thing! This injectable ensures I have NO hives whatsoever and it is bliss.... that is until after six months I have to stop, get assessed, it comes back, then I go back on treatment.
During this time I have been researching the possible link between meno/perimeno and urticaria and the results are coming up pretty solidly that it is connected. Nobody however will listen to me or investigate it further, nor offer blood tests to see if my oestrogen is on the floor. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement and my quality of life whilst off the medication is unbearable.
So this is just a note to say, I've got your back and I feel your pain....
Take care of you xx
