Floo I wonder if it’s the fluctuations in hormones causing the problems, I’ve had one okayish day in March so far or is it too much estrogen making me feel poisoned?! If I can stay off hrt for weeks/months I can reassess but I certainly don’t think I can feel any worse, even if my nausea, back ache disappears & I have a bit of energy back I’ll be happier x

I may reduce my dose and see what happens, I would like to stop it for a few days and see what my bloods are like to see how much of the hrt i am absorbing.  It a minefield it really is.  If I could sleep it would be something.  Can too much estrogen give the same symptoms as too little?  My estrogen was increased rapidly from 1 spray to 3 within 10 days, just wondering if its too much.  The first night i added the first spray I had the jolts that stopped me sleeping?

We got to keep hoping we can work it out.

Hello Itwillpass

A lot of your symptoms resonate with me.

I am post meno and had a break from HRT for about a year. Unfortunately my mood became very low and three months ago I started to use HRT again.

I found a menopause specialist who prescribed Oestrogel and Utrogestan. I was told to increase the gel until I had symptom relief and that up to six pumps a day would be okay. I was on four pumps and not feeling very well and I was then advised to stop taking Utrogestan for a few weeks to see if that was the problem.  Throughout this time I have experienced buzzy legs, nausea, lack of appetite, anxiety, headaches, low mood and tearfulnes.  Thinking back, some of these symptoms were present much earlier in my menopause journey and I wonder if my high dose of oestrogen has made me revert to a peri menopause state. Your comment about feeling poisoned and concern that your oestrogen dose is too high really struck a chord with me!

I will be following your progress with interest and I hope that you feel better without HRT.  I certainly sympathise with how you and the other ladies are feeling at the moment!

Wishing you well and take care.

K.

Floo it’s such a minefield but yes I think estrogen highs or lows seem to have the same symptoms what I’ve read 🤷🏻‍♀️ How are you doing bloods? I’m in England & doctors won’t do blood tests for peri menopause.

Hi Kathleen wow that’s really interesting, it must be such a fine balance & maybe yes too much can do more harm than good. I’m going to stay off it & will post my progress on here  ::) Its awful knowing other ladies feel the same but also gives me great comfort knowing it’s not just me, take care x

I have done them privately at the local Nuffield, the specialist wanted me to use their service but it would mean travelling and I'm not well enough to travel I'm too scared now to travel on fast roads it terrifies me, all this in the last two years, I used to drive up and down the motorway daily no bother but now not able to.  I also thought that one test isn't going to tell us much so thought I would do them over the week to get a better idea.  The meno specialist thought that I may have absorption issues and looking to change the HRT so I want to prove via bloods if I do or not because I like the Lenzetto.

Oh I see, would mind posting the results when you’ve got them? That’s something else I’ve thought about absorption & I’ve not tried the gel which was mentioned at one point. For now though I’m going without hrt I’ve made up my mind! I also totally get the driving thing, I didn’t drive for weeks because of the anxiety, couldn’t take my son to the dentist either or my daughter for her filling felt like a complete failure. Thankfully mostly I can push through it now (not always) it’s just these physical symptoms which I believe are causing my anxiety x

Hi itwillpass and all the other ladies here suffering. I too have had all these symptoms both off HRT and on it. I'm currently on HRT (coil and patch). Today, has been off balance, light headed, hot flushes, low mood and general feeling unwell. Went for a walk this evening and was all over the place, likely feet and brain were not working together....... i was just so off balance. Like you all, I'm not sure if it's high or low estrogen that is causing it. I'd live to know. I'm fed up but we must keep on going .I had terrible debilitating symptoms at the very start of my journey into perimenopause 6 yrs ago. I wish I had the magic pill to help all this. I hope we all get there.

Hi peri-wrecked great name certainly sums a lot of us up! Wow 6 years gosh has it eased at all in that time? What has worked best for you or are you still experimenting? I hate the off balance feeling it really sets my health anxiety off. Slept awful tired but wired, now my limbs are buzzing & I’m exhausted  :'(

Hi itwillpass, thanks about the name. Yes, it is 6 years since I came off birth control and found myself plunged into a living hell......I had one year of being semi normal and then the shakes, jitters, internal vibrations, joint pains, low mood and  loads more hit.....u had an idea it was hormonal but I never heard of perimenopause before then. Even my gp was sceptical that it was hormonal but he didnt rule it out  it took a lot of tests for other stuff to be ruled out down through the years.  I got diagnosed with POI (early menopause) years ago now, I think but I wasn't allowed HRT until i got more tests done.
I only started HRT in December 2020.  I must say that knowing it was hormonal helped me stay calm a bit and having other women to talk to. I haven't found any cures yet. It's a battle. One I hope to win but every day can be so different. I hope we all find the magic recipe. I'm going back to my gp soon I think to have a review as I don't feel that different on this HRT.
Stay strong and know others are having the same symptoms and hopefully we will make it.
Thanks

Thanks Floo I’ll follow the other thread maybe someone can explain what they mean  ::)

Peri-wreaked gosh you have been through it & like me continue to go through it  :'( Is going back on the pill an option, there was another interesting thread about this, maybe once I’ve done a body reset see where I am & still suffering this maybe an option. The other hrt my gp said to try was gel (tried tablets & patches). Maybe it’s an absorbing issue? It is comforting knowing others are going through it too take care x

Peri menopause is brutal for some isn’t it.  When I look at my blood results I think how the hell can my ovaries produce that much Estrogen.  Even without the hrt my hormones are having some right surges and it’s no wonder I’m so ill. Some hours/ days i would need hrt and some I wouldn’t, how do you work that one out.  I don’t know what to do for the best I really don’t.

Totally brutal Floo, the gp made me feel like a real moaning wimp when she said it’s a natural process all women go through  :'( I’m not a wimp I’ve had three children & before peri hadn’t visited the doctors for 8 years! It’s makes sense if hormones are fluctuating wildly, then we add more on top it’s causing the poisoned feelings, but it’s obviously not that simple! x

Let’s hope our ovaries calm down soon and give us some peace.  Over the last 18 months my ovaries calmed twice and I was hopeful, things went calm for about 2 months the first time and then 1 1/2 months the second and then start up again on the rollercoast.  I’m trying to look after my 84 year old mum who lives with me, I’m just hoping she doesn’t get really ill because I’m not able to cope or do much at the moment, I have to get better soon.  Can your ovaries be suppressed to stop the fluctuations?

Oh Floo you really have got a lot to deal with, I can barely look after myself at the minute I’m on autopilot most days & hiding just how bad I feel from my kids/hubby. This is what I’m wondering about the pill & suppressing things, following the other thread you’re on with great interest. The other thing is if you suddenly stop producing hormones & feel rubbish it that it, you feel rubbish for ever  :o or are we feeling rubbish because of the erratic fluctuations! It’s all too much  :'(
