I would definitely consider the bio identical HRT's that one uses transdermally, as in a patch or rub on gel. If you need a progesterone as well, many ladies use utrogestan.

Bio-identical hormones are supposed to be the best, because they are the closest match to our body's hormones.  A lot of women take utrogestan (progesterone) and estrogel (estrogen).  However, even when utrogestan is taken vaginally, a lot of women report side effects.   It all depends on the the individual, and the regime they are on (ie is it continuous, or cyclical).
I personally have struggled with both progestogen  based hrt (evorel conti)and utrogestan.  There was a thread some dating back some time ago by Mary G who said she went to a specialist who prescribed 50mg progesterone a night; and it was bespoked for her by a reliable specialist.  If I could contact her (after 10 posts), I would, as she says she has been fine on the regime.  Have a search through the posts...easiest way is to put in 'progesterone intolerant' and 'Menopause Matters' on google, and it will take you to the right thread.     The other options to look at are Femoston, or a mirena coil and estrogen.   Some posts have mentioned a Jaydess coil; however I think practitioners are reluctant to use this as it delivers less progestogen than the mirena, which may/may not be enough for keeping the womb lining thin.  Hopefully you will get some personal success stories on different hrt regimes.

Transdermal is safer than oral so perhaps ask for a patch or gel. The best one is the one you get on with and there's no way of knowing which that is until you try.

Sophie20, although many women have issues with progesterone not everyone does. I have been on evorel sequi and evorel conti patches. One of my reasons for going on HRT was digestive issues and it has really helped. The only issues Ive had with evorel conti is bleeding.

Yes, I agree, not all do have issues with progesterone (as opposed to progestins); it definitely depends on the individual.

Methods of taking micronized progesterone
« Reply #7 on: April 04, 2021, 12:29:13 PM »

Thank you Bee Bunny for posting the article on Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (Dr John Eden), it is an excellent resource, and backed by Nick Panay.

Is anyone taking 100mg micronized progesterone (utrogestan, cyclogest or other) on alternate nights?  If so what is the effect; do you feel in a sleep state for one day; and lesser of a sleep state for the day you don't take it?

Also does anyone get problems with their muscles when taking micronized progesterone?  I seem to be plagued with over relaxed muscles.
