Jaydess anyone?
« on: December 05, 2018, 10:01:44 PM »

I've just heard there is another sort of hormone coil called jaydess. Like a Mirena but about a quarter the amount of progesterone (I think). I wonder how this would be for those women who are too sensitive to progesterone?  Progesterone makes my usual mild mental health difficulties much worse and I'm looking for something that I can tolerate as I need oestrogen for flushes, aches and dryness.
Would like to know anyone's experience of jaydess
Thank you x

Hi perimandy

I recently considered a mirena coil but when I tried a coil pre-menopause I had it removed fairly soon as it was painful (I haven't had children).

Because of that history my doctor looked into jaydess for me as an alternative option to mirena because jaydess is smaller so less likely to give me pain. Unfortunately jaydess is not licensed for hrt use.

I wonder if it's one of those things that some specialists will do though?

I gave up on the idea of a progesterone coil for the time being and trying utrogestan tablets instead but many ladies on here have a lot of success with mirena.

Thank you flaky47. I had a Mirena taken out about 2+ years ago as I felt it was making me incredible anxiety and depression and compulsive thoughts. Will ask my gp about jaydess. Have even considered hysterectomy so I could take oestrogen alone. I know that is radical but i just don't know what to do. Hey ho. This time of life sure is difficult isn't it? X

Perimandy

Like you I had the Mirena removed because it wasn't suiting me.  My symptoms were flat mood, weight gain and quashed libido.

I am currently under a (nhs) gynaecologist due to my progesterone intolerance and he's suggested trialling the jaydess (also know as skyla) to resolve this issue.  I'm seriously considering it x

I had Skyla inserted a month ago.  I had some initial swelling, which mostly resolved. No effect on mood or libido (but I am using a very low dose .75mcg 4 times a week of compounded testosterone cream). I do have some weight gain, but I did not figure out the estrogen part yet. The amount of levonorgestrel that is being released daily supposed to be reduced from 14mcg a day to 10mcg a day by day 60. So I hope it will get better.

I tried the Jayden as I couldn’t tolerate the Mirena or utrogestan. I had it from feb until June but while it helped with my anxiety it made me so depressed. I spotted continuously and was always bloated. Plus it wasn’t strong enough for me as my womb lining built up. I ended up having a hysterectomy. It maybe worth a try though it wasn’t too bad going in as it is smaller than a Mirena. If you don’t try you will not know.  I know I had exhausted all options before my hysterectomy. X

Hi KBallinger how did the hysterectomy go and have you had any negative issues since? I am at the point where I have exhausted all issues also but daren’t take the plunge re hysterectomy. I have read on here you lose the ability to orgasm and that feels like a big deal to me x

Physically I am fine now. It wasnt an easy surgery I ended up having a fibroid blocking my cervix and a bulky uterus riddled with adenmyosis! So I gave my surgeon a hard time apparently.
Mine is balancing hormones as I had my ovaries removed. I was on patches before but now I don’t have my own hormones it’s taking a bit of playing with. Introducing testosterone is complicating it for me as it makes me feel better but ankles and calves swelling everyday so might stop that. Still much better than the progesterone and bleeding affecting my ferritin levels. X
