In a bit of a state- hyperplasia and HRT issues
« on: February 09, 2021, 03:28:52 PM »

Hi Ladies,

just had a telephone consult with HRT , NHS clinic after my hysteroscopy last year in October.
She said that I had hyperplasia. I asked her how much thicker my womb was and she said that was different from hyperplasia ? And it could develope into cancer. I had already spoken  to the consultant l-ast year who did the operation and she said that the were no abnormalities just a bit of thickening.

I am having teribble issues still with my bowel since the operation and made it quite clear I do not want another one. They said they would scan me in May. She said that they wanted to put me on continus combined HRT straight away.

I am not feeling great and the thought of trying to change at the moment and try to work out if the new regime is making me feel ill/ working or whether the stress and other meds are casing me issues - fills me with dread, so I refused at the moment. I also do not want to reduce my estrogen intake at the moment on the Femosten combined HRT as it is lower dosage.

Sorry for the ramble , but I am feeling scared.
She  also said " Do you undretsand the risks?" I said that I am not likely to die of cancer in the next few months and that until I get my other health issues sorted and under control I cannot cope with any other changes now.

I feel I am being pushed into continus combined , when I don't want to take it. I want to stay on the bleed regime.
I was considering changing to transdermal and trying Utro in the future.

Can anyone explain what the difference in hyperplasia and thickening is please? She said they were different, and she wouldn't tell me how thick my womb was.

Many thanks Pepperminty xx

MayB she doesn't know?  Could you ring the Dept where you had the examination, explain that you are confused by your GP and can they make it clearer?  Or do a google for 'hyperplasia' and 'womb thickening' - or put both in the search box on here.

Do you keep a mood/food/symptom diary to help chart progress?  I would ask for a referral back to the Consultant too or ring and ask to speak to her.

Thank you for replying CLKD,

I was in a bit a a state and have had time to think now. The person I spoke to was at the specialist clinic :o. It is my understanding that Hyperplasia is thickening- she did not appear to know that!  As far as I am aware there is nothing else sinister. My GP is next to clueless about women's issues -although nice.

If they think they are getting me onto a lower estrogen regime at my age, when my levels are only in the 300's as it is - I will fight them tooth and nail.  I am angry that she said they had a meeting and decided that is what they were going to do! So much for patient consultation! In fact i am attempting to up my dosage and have managed to increase by a small amount slowly which was agreed on my last consultation .

I am a bit angry at the moment and letting it all out.  >:(

If I lower my dose I may as well stop completely- as I am only mid fifties and need more not less estrogen.

I had intended to lower it when i get into my sixties.

I have an appintment with the consultant whom  I remember one lady on here has seen ( and did not appear very impressed with)in May - I am  taking my Husband , as I know that having a man with you gives you a better chance of a good outcome.

Thank you for the flowers CLKD  :) x

I suspect that money comes into the equation too.  What Surgeries will pay for treatments, referrals etc., as well as heading towards End of year in April.

Let us know how you get on.
