Tostran gel
« on: January 18, 2021, 03:39:17 PM »

Hi,

Have just started back on HRT (estradot 50mg patch and oral Utrogestan 100mg daily) after a 2 month break following being on it for a year.

My menopause clinic gynaecologist (phone call consultation) has said to also use the Tostran gel and said one or two pumps a day and give it a full 6 months.

I have only been using one pump a day, but my skin is flaking off at the application site, or is it just the gel residue?
Any other ladies had this side effect or is there a better gel I can try?
Thank you xx

PS. anyone managed to get FemSeven conti yet anywhere?, my chemist is struggling to get any from Alliance healthcare :'(

Hi,
I can't help about the skin flaking and it may just be dried gel. Others may be along to help. I'm just curious about a pump delivery? I thought that was only for men as they are considered to need a much higher dose. I was given sachets the size of sugar sachets in a cafe (long, thin cylinders) and had to gauge a TENTH of it each time. The sachets were not calibrated so it was a nightmare trying to control this very runny gel in such tiny quantities over ten days. I gave up after a while as I was getting some soft, but dark hair growth across the application site. Good luck! 😀

Hi Julia Dizzy

YIKES!!  1-2 pumps per day is far too high!! This is scary!

I'm going to find and bump the thread on doses. I think you should start with 1 pump twice a week to mx 3 times per week according to the British Menipause Society. The Chelsea and Westminster clinic used to recommend 2 x per week as the starting dose.

I would always use the weakest gel possible - so a better gel woud be the Testogel sachets 1 % gel (not the pump pack which is more concentreated and delivers too much gel per pump).

I can;t understand why the gynaecologist would recommended this amount...

Agree this is far too much. I was prescribed one pump every other day. I think the flaking is the gel coming off, it seems to form a skin. I apply it at night and wash it off with soap and water the following day.

I was originally prescribed a pump every other day, but that's far too much for me.  I'm getting very good results with a blob the size of a petit pois, daily.

When I started out and was experimenting I would get a bit 'tetchy' if the dose was too high - and by a bit high I mean the difference between a petit pois and garden pea size.  I would defiantly advise starting slow, as you never know what effect you might have.

Thank you all ladies, I have read on here previously that a daily dose of Tostran is too much! I have no idea why he thinks one or two pumps a day!!
I will try and ask for the Testogel sachets Hurdity, or if not just usr Tostran twice a week when I change my estradot patch? See how it goes...
