Urticaria/Hives/itchy skin and H2 blocking antihistamines
« on: December 22, 2020, 11:06:03 PM »

Hi there
Has anyone had any success with H2 blockers like famotidine or ranitidine (now withdrawn) for treating menopausal Urticaria/skin flares? Has it proven more effective than taking h1 antihistamines like cetirizine or fexofenadine on their own?

I just got some famotidine on NHS for my itchy neck flares and my weird flare ups around my eyes, which are a nightmare and which fexofenadine on its own doesn’t prevent reoccurring, but which go right down with mega piriton dose of 2-3 a day, but they knock you out and don’t want to take for ever. Am on low histamine diet which worked for four weeks then I ate normally on my sons birthday and had a drink and bam, right back where I started despite taking daosin supplements before every meal :-(!!  Only taken two tabs of h2 so far will see if it works... don’t know how long it takes?
