Update Jaypo in the return of the fibroids!
« on: January 19, 2021, 06:32:53 PM »

I’ve had a call from the GP about the return of my fibroids, strangely a slightly different picture to what the sonographer
Said, biggest one is 3.5cm but I do have a lot of smaller ones, from the bit of lining they could see all looks ok. We are to watch and wait, if I get anymore bleeding or pain etc she will refer me.

She did say that because estrogen feeds them they will continue to grown so perhaps in maybe 2 years I should come off HRT as my hormones should have bottomed out  ::)and hopefully they’ll shrink  :-\ not sure about that as I had a change to estrogel and didn’t absorb it and felt awful, sweats anxiety etc still so don’t know if I’d be on the other side of all this !

So watching and waiting, but slightly relieved that I don’t have to go to the hospital in these covid times, but I can see it in the horizon as this is not my first rodeo with the old fibroids  ;D

Keep on the HRT if it suits you?

Thank you helenmelon, what's your own feelings? Mine DID keep getting bigger and it was only a matter of months before the bleeding became unbearable,so don't let it run on if it starts affecting your every day life.

Thanks Jaypo, no I won’t, I did tell the GP that I knew what was coming, but she seemed to focus on my need to come off HRT within the next 2 years anyway, I got the feeling she thought that was the norm, Ive been on it for 3 years and will be 55 in March, but frankly I’m more worried about my severe menopausal symptoms coming back than having any kind of surgery at the moment.

But I will probably wait until the pandemic calms down and go see my usual GP who has been with me since the menopause literally floored me and she saw me at my worst.

Thanks for the reply x

You have my empathy. I have a 5cm by 5.5cm one. Interestingly finding it (and it took 12 months for anyone to think to send me for an ultrasound) was what led to me finding out I'm in peri. My specialist doesn't want to do anything about it for now so living with it. I was put on the pill to help with symptoms (but that hasn't yet worked out).

I'm glad I got my hysterectomy, I was passing what can only be described as big pieces of raw liver (so sorry 🤢) and the flooding? Blimey I won't go into detail on that one, I tried everything the dr offered, had an ablation and afterwards I thought yay it's worked, two weeks later, same thing started to happen again,I used to be in tears after I'd messed all over the place,so hysterectomy it was, easy procedure as it was done vaginally and ovaries left, I was up and about in a day. Don't let it get to that stage ladies. Good luck
