Help GP appointment this afternoon
« on: December 15, 2020, 10:00:18 AM »

Hello
I have a much awaited appointment this afternoon with my female gp .
To investigate a possible prolapse and I am going to beg to go on some form of hrt again I am post menopausal ñ
I was on evoril conti patches and was advised to come off them due to age etc.
I am 61, my quality of life is terrible with my symptoms of joint pain especially my knees and hips, absolutely no intercourse because of vaginal atrophy and utis, along with many other menopausal symptoms.

Can any of you ladies offer advice of what I need to ask for regards treatment?

I am looking at vagifem and estrogel,
Do I need to ask for something to add because of fillers in the vagifem?

I really don’t wish to go back on the patches .

Also any advice on the estrogel ring which inserted .

Kind regards

There is no longer an age restriction for hrt. If you were happy with evorel conti it would make sense to use that. Or you could oestrogel and utrogeston. If she's difficult ask for a referral to a menopause clinic. You may want to consider testosterone too (which will mean the meno clinic). It's strengthened my pelvic floor muscles so I no longer have to do pelvic floor exercises. I don't know if it will help with your prolapse but worth asking the question.

So I have been prescribed Vagifem for three months, then I need to go back to gp for a follow up .

But I have so much pain in my knees elbow and hips, what do I need for all the other menopausal symptoms?

Is there anything else I can take alongside of vagifem.

As oestrogen levels drop, muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Do you have a Pharmasticst that you could speak with, they have private rooms?  Or try over the counter pain relief - I find Nurofen helps for my sciatica and ear ache.

The body may also become dry: inside and out! skin, scalp, deep in the ears, nostrils, vagina ........

How often was it suggested that you use the 'vagifem'?  Let us know how you get on.

You're getting all these symptoms because you have oestrogen deficiency. Like every other deficiency the only satisfactory solution is to add what you're short of. I'm afraid nothing will help like hrt does.

When you were on Evorel conti, did you feel that it helped your joints? I am on it now but can't decide how much difference it does actually make.
