Vagifem - bladder irritation
« on: November 10, 2020, 07:22:28 AM »

I have just started using Vagifem as part of perimenopausal HRT treatment. I wasn’t having any symptoms of atrophy but was finding my bladder was irritable after intercourse.

Since starting the Vagifem I’m finding I have a constant urge to pee and a sight burning feeling in my urethra. Almost like a bladder infection - I’m wondering whether it’s the Vagifem that is causing this? Has anyone had similar symptoms? I’m reluctant to persevere as the discomfort kept me up for most of the night last night.

Sometimes the fillers in the product can irritate.

In the meantime, take pain relief on a regular basis for 3 days. It helps stop that nip as the spincter closes are a wee.   You could ask your GP for 'ovestin' instead, same idea: every night for 2 weeks then ...........

Have a look at the vaginal atrophy and bladder issues threads here too.
