UK food stuffs in Canada
« on: November 08, 2020, 09:39:36 PM »

So - what R U looking for on your UK food shelves C.C. - what takes your fancy first?

I love Cadbury chocolate in all shapes and sizes - fruit and nut; hazel nut
Nestle walnut whips
Black Magic - a mix of soft centres and hard fillings

Tea: Yorkshire tea; Typhoo tea; Earl Grey

Coffee : Nescafe
Maxwell House [too weak in my opinion]

Marmite is difficult to buy abroad
Bovril which I make into a hot drink in a mug
Oxo cubes for cooking with

Some of these may hail from the US anyway as many are made by Mars

Yup, the Cadbury's here taste different than the UK chocolate...which is better imo.  I have seen Marmite, not sure what it is lol, and we have Twinings Tea- I drink the Chamomile and the Lemon Ginger.

The Curly Wurly chocolate used to be called "Wig Wag" when I was a kid and they were my all-time fave!

One thing in Canada you can't find anywhere else is Ketchup Chips...not my thing but ds loves them.

We can stick to adding here and you can dip into both and let us know which is on the shelves in Canada   ......   C what I did there, sherbet dips with a liquorice tube .

Marmite - is a dark sticky concoction .  When FinL was released from Prisoner of War Camp in August 1945 each one was given a small pot.  [Marmite.co.uk]. I love it on dry hot toast, thickly spread.  It's a love it or hate it food stuff !

Nooooooo! Thick marmite is disgusting, it needs to be spread very thinly. My go to food when I have upset guts is dry toast with a smidge of marmite. If you've had vegemite it's a similar taste but has more kick.

I haven't been to the store to browse.  Next time I am downtown I will pop in and see if there is anything there that has been suggested. :)
