Prolapse pain or Pelvic Dysfunction ?
« on: October 11, 2020, 05:41:28 PM »

Hello I'm 49 and I've been having period like pains, hip ache, low back ache and some rectal type pressure for last 10 days. I'm post menopausal. I have a uterine prolapse and cystocele after my second birth. I had a bit of this in April, had a CA 125 test as doctor said this was best she could do as at height of lockdown...which came back negative and pain went away. I'm not sure what has triggered this again. I do get health anxiety so my minds gone into overdrive and I'm thinking all types of nasty things. I've spoken to gp and she says as had scan 3 years ago and blood test in April and no red flags to wait and see how it goes, but on my request has made a referral to a women's physio. I walk a few miles daily and don't know if this has just gradually made it worse. I always need a wee and this hasn't changed much. My bowels seem fine. My main worry is the period like pain and don't know if this is normal for prolapses or pelvic dysfunction?? I can feel the prolapse when I walk and tend to try and squeeze/pull up. I can also feel it with my fingers and know that it protrudes a little. Can anyone advise as this is really getting me down now and wondering if I need to push for scan to see if anything more sinister going on?? Ive also stupidly googled CA 125 and read that not always that reliable ... :-\ ...Thanks

Hello again I just wanted to bump this up in hope that someone may have some thoughts or reassuring advice. Also to update I went to gp today as my pelvic pains kept me awake last night. She examined me and confirmed my cystocele but said it wasn't too bad. She reluctantly referred me for a scan. She also asked if it could be bowel pains not pelvic pain but I'm pretty sure it's not as it just feels like period pains ...  but now she's got me wondering if it is ?? And of course my HA kicks in and my head goes to the worst outcome !! Has anybosy else experienced any of this?? Thankyou x

Hi Gem2. Sorry I missed your last post. I've had prolapses. Uterine plus a cystocele and now a small rectocele. Pain is not common with prolapse and many women don't even know they've got one. It can lead to a feeling of pressure and discomfort though especially as it worsens. Could you have endometriosis which will give pelvic pain? What scan are you having? Did the doctor mention the uterine prolapse or just the cystocele?

Hi Taz thanks so much for responding I really appreciate it and sorry you've got prolapse issues too. I have read in my copious hours of reading :-\ that you can get pelvic pain with a prolapse? I don't think I have endometriosis tbh and never suffered when I had periods. It's a pelvic U/S and internal. I asked about a uterine prolapse as this had been mentioned previously but then she went off on a tangent. I'm hoping I will get more info when I see the physio. Up until now I've only ever had discomfort and dragging and managed to resolve with pelvic floors so don't know if something else is going on....on a positive the pelvic pain was much better last night as i didnt go for a walk and didnt do any pelvic floor exercises yesterday...not sure if this helped??
