A Panda in the National zoo in Washington USA gave birth to a cub yesterday, they have webcams so I know I will be watching it and hoping to see it develop into a beautiful little cub. My favourite toy when I was little was my panda, I still think they are beautuful

I still have my panda toy - very grubby and probably full of straw from the 1950s
and I have a knitted panda - when they wore out Granny would knit a new one. The last is in a drawer carefully kept.

Not very big pandas - about 11" long. I even remember the pattern. I think she made my 1st one when I was very tiny [well I weighed in at 3lb and a bit]
and when they wore through she either pulled out the wool to reknit and stuck the ears back on or had to start a complete new one
. The wool is grubby and there are a few holes ......... It's been all over Europe with me
