Oral HRT
« on: March 11, 2022, 07:04:30 PM »

I’m using transdermal estrogen but I’m now up to 200 dose of patches and it just isn’t working. I think I just don’t absorb properly. I want to try tablets but I am aware that my gp will only prescribe a 2mg tablet. The comparison tables say this is only equivalent to a 50 or 100 patch (depending which chart you look at)
Does anyone have experience of taking more than 2mg of oral estrogen?

Dawn, do you know what your blood levels are on the 200 patch?
I’m on 2mg tablet and my levels were 560 so pretty good.

Hi Sweettooth
My levels were last checked at the end of the year, when I was on 175 patches. At that point my levels were 236. My starting point before hrt was only 50. It’s pretty good if yours are 500. Do you happen to know what your levels were before you started taking the tablets?

That may a sensible starting dose. If your issue is transdermal absorption you may find the lower oral dose actually gives you more oestrogen.
