HRT patches
« on: August 19, 2020, 07:18:40 PM »

Hi all
I have been waiting for patches now for 6 months.
Am on kliovance temporarily.
I found a chemist that does everol ?
But my GP said it isnt the same medication.
I am so confused with my already befuddled brain!!
I have not had a period for over a year - and think i need combination patch??
I still have womb and ovaries.
What patches would be the equivilent?

I dont understand how in this day and age getting patches is so difficult?
I am sedentary and work day and Night shifts so a patch would work bettwe for me.
Also - BREAST and NIPPLE pain. Is this normal on HRT?

Thankyou ladies xxxx

Hi Vixster

 :welcomemm:

Yes if you have womb and ovaries you need oestrogen and a progestogen and if you haven't had a period for a year then you can have a continuouis combined product that is designed to avoid bleeding, after the initial few months of settling in.

If the chemist does Evorel conti ( or Evorel sequi - this would lead to a withdrawal bleed) then yes it's the same. I have no idea what the doctor means. Both Kliovance and Evorel contain oestrogen in the form of estradiol and, a progestogen  in the form of norethisterone - so exactly the same. Just a different method of delivery and different doses as a result. Do find a GP that knows something about HRT. For goodness sake (talking to the GP here) - it's not difficult! All the information is here on this website: https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/postmeno.php

Good luck :)
