Skin changes
« on: July 31, 2020, 07:06:37 AM »

I wonder how many ladies have experienced skin changes since or during the MP? My skin used to be clear and easy to care for. Over the past 5 years of this 20 year sentence, the skin on my body has become ultra dry and on my face it feels like sand paper despite good quality cleanser and moisturiser. I am now developing blotchy spots on my legs and white age spots on my arms! I know some medications cause skin to change but I didn't think the MP was this virulent in attacking the outside as well as the in! Any thoughts/helps much appreciated. x

I know what you mean. I never had dry skin until about a year ago, except on my shins.

Now I'm mixing an Evening Primrose oil in with my body lotion at night. And I may need to find something gentler to wash with than soap.

Are you on hrt, Sadie? My skin has improved somewhat after 6 months.

It would help to go to the sauna and steam room but that's not going to be possible for a while  :)

I've had real problems with dry and itchy skin since the menopause but my gynaecologist told me to take vitamin E. Have been on them about 5 months and my legs are a lot better. I still have problems behind my ears but I put vitamin E oil on those and that helps, as does diprobase.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out  :o - skin, vagina, deep in the ears, eyes ........ so the trick is to use moisturiser several times a day when possible to feed the skin.

Even DH has dry patches behind his ears and shins to applies Nivea each night.  I use a 'vaseline' hand cream.

Wow power to the girls here! I could never do a sauna or massage as I hate feeling over heated and any massage would drive the arthritic pain off the page.

I'm interested to read the lack of oestrogen dries inside and out as my eyes are also dry despite cutting down reading and the PC. I will def. look into Vit. E and if there is any cream that also contains it.

I used Nivea cleanser/toner and have done for years plus Neutrogena hydro boost cream moisturiser which is amazing. You can't see the sandpaper effect only feel it but it all gets worse if I'm stressed. I need to seek out an MP specialist/clinic me thinks!

I can recommend Nivea`s new Micellair in rose water cleanser/toner, £2 from B and M and lasts ages. I will def. look at the inner and outer options ladies thank you! PS Son uses Diprobase on his hands, so again I need to look closer to home.

Thank you all! x

Can anyone recommend a good Vit E cream for the face and body? I am perusing the web and there are so many I'd like some recommendations before purchase.

What do they use in the Care Homes?  Sudafed springs to mind, that's what Dad had on his scaley legs  ;) don't know about VitE though.

I've plumped (!!) for Dr. Organic Vit. E. cream from Holland and Barratt after reading the many ex. reviews for ultra dry scaly skin. Also other skin issues benefit it seems. As they have some good offers I've jumped in at the deep end (oops no already there!) and ordered the same range body wash plus body lotion. 2 for the price of one and free delivery over a certain total so I'm in! It's cheered me up just thinking about the goodies coming! lol!

As ever ladies thank you! I shouldn't stay away so long! I will now seek out a MP clinic near me!

Hi all!

Just to update you on my quest for a decent face/body/ cream that will help with the dryness of my skin. I've been using Dr. Organic range of Holland and Barrett's Vit. E. bodywash/face cream/body lotion and Vit. E. capsule daily. The stuff is ex. No stickiness and used sparingly it should last ages. No nasty chemicals, just good old fashioned quality, organically. I can really recommend what is listed above, and look forward to trying other Dr. Organic products over time. Here's to a smoother, younger looking me! lol! x
