Question to ladies on oestrogel
« on: July 22, 2020, 09:31:53 PM »

Hi ladies

Do you find that sometimes the gel is runnier? I wondered if it could be down to ambient temperature, and if so, will the gel be less effective?

Sometimes it seems almost watery, other times quite thick

Thanks

Hi Jeepers

I've never noticed a difference if I'm honest.

I don't use oestrogel but I do use Testogel which is a similar formulation and there is a marked difference in consistency with ambient temperature. However this is in sachets (which are designed to be used up all in one go) and would be more affected by temp changes. To some extent the packaging of oestrogel (in sealed inner pouches and an outer plastic bottle containing the pump mechanism) will ensure that the contents ie the gel are cushioned from small temperature changes but yes I am sure that ambient temperature may well affect the consistency - being runnier in very hot weather and more viscous in cool weather.

Also yes the consistency will affect drying time and therefore absorption, and your skin temperature will also affect this. However the gel does build up in the system so I wouldn't have though this is too noticeable but possibly more with higher doses or in women who are very sensitive? Maybe make sure you keep it in somewhere the temperature does not fluctuate if you can and if you are concerned?

Yes, sometimes it runs off my thighs but usually it doesn't. It would be logical there's a difference in absorption but my body hasn't noticed it.

If I apply straight from the shower, it's not runny. But if I apply on skin that's not freshly washed, then it runs off quickly. I figure it's a layer of body oil or sweat that forms a bit of a barrier on the skin.

Shannonplussed, that's exactly what I have noticed.

I use Estrogel but i always apply after a shower, but have noticed it feels thinner on hot days.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I never thought about the shower thing. Sometimes I shower at night, sometimes the next morning. I'll see if there is any correlation.
I think the hot weather does affect the viscosity, but hopefully, not the effectiveness.

I saw a post on here recently about someone who applied there gel to their inner thigh using there inner arm which is exactly what I have been advised to do. My question is do i wash my inner arm after application? Forgot to ask my specialist

Hi Flan747, I used to apply 2 pumps to my outer arm and rub it on my inner thigh, so no washing was necessary. Inner arm is not advisable, due to potential contact with breasts.

That makes more sense thank you Sage. I have poor absorption so hopefully by not washing it off the arm I will absorb a bit more!

You're welcome, Flan747. Don't forget to alternate right and left sides. Apparently, cells can become irresponsive if overloaded with oestrogen. Good luck!
